Prep Hoops Florida is your year-round source of high school and grassroots basketball coverage from across the state. Here are some 2025 forwards I’m excited to see take the floor this season.
Maddox Fowles, A 6-8 junior who has sky-rocket potential that can play out on the perimeter as well as on the interior. He has improved his rebounding skills at both ends of the floor where he plays hard every single possession. Fowles has a smooth inside-out game on the offensive end where he can finish tough shots around the rim as well as shoot efficiently off the catch. Look for Fowles to gain some interest from college coaches after the upcoming high school season as he has improved every year.
Jerry Ashley, A 6-7 junior wing who can score off of dribble-drives through contact and is unafraid to shoot the ball from the perimeter. He also adds a good combination skillset of size, length and athleticism where he is an emerging player to keep an eye on. His court vision has also continued to improve where he makes the right reads with and without the ball in his hands.
Highlights
Jeremy Nixon, A 6-6 junior who provides a ton of length on both ends of the floor where he can score effectively around the rim. Nixon also runs the floor well for his size where he can get the basketball in transition with his ability to handle the ball. On the defensive side, he plays with a ton of strength and energy where he can defend bigger opponents on the block as well as guard the perimeter against smaller opponents. On the offensive end, he is quick to the basketball and can finish off put-backs around the rim as well as bring a smooth jump shot to his game.
Highlights
Jordan Taylor, A 6-7 junior wing who is quickly emerging as one of the top prospects I’ve seen. He has improved his game across all levels as he is shooting from the mid-range with more confidence as well as finishing around the rim. He does a great job at catching lobs around the rim in transition as well as in the half-court. Taylor’s game has also improved from the free throw line where he shot 60 percent last season. The next step in his game will be to build more confidence from the perimeter. He’s also an active rebounder on both ends of the floor.
Maodo Niang, A 6-8 junior forward who has improved his offensive skillset whether it’s his activity, physicality and strength around the rim. Niang also adds solid length to his game where he can score off put-backs and lobs thrown at him. His activity on the defensive end has also continued to improve where he can guard multiple positions but sometimes he will play to fast. His footwork around the perimeter has also been note-worthy as he tends to contest shots across all three scoring levels. He is an active rebounder on the defensive end as well limiting the opposition from getting second chance scoring opportunities.
