Expert Analysis
Max Rosenberg | Prep Hoops Scout
Ashley may have had the most impressive game of the entire event. He had 30 and 11 just by simply being a basketball player and understanding the flow of the game. It didn’t look like he had any plays called for him, but by being positioned properly on the glass, he had three put backs. He also was able to use his frame to carve out space in the paint and pump fake his defenders, drawing them off balance and opening up visibility to finish off the glass. Ashley also had three blocks and a steal on the defensive side of the ball. Other scouts were raving about his game for the remainder of the event as well. Ashley has not yet decided on where he will attend college, but wherever he ends up will get a high motor, high-energy player who knows how to do all of the little things to help get wins for his squad.

Ashley is a dominant interior presence for Verot, excelling at both ends of the floor. Known for his refined post moves and ability to box out effectively, he makes rebounding look effortless. As the anchor of his team, Ashley’s leadership on the boards and his ability to protect the paint have been key to his success. With a strong senior campaign ahead, he’s poised to leave a lasting impact.

Verot’s big man is a tremendous shot blocker, where he averaged just over 3 bpg last season. Ashley is a long, athletic prospect with great jumping ability. He’s able to guard multiple positions and protect the rim down low, or defend out on the wing effectively when needed. His wingspan allows him to alter shots both inside and out, and he’s an excellent offensive rebounder who can finish around the rim while absorbing contact.

Ashley will be a major factor for the Vikings and their success this season. Bishop Verot looks to be one of the top teams in the area in 2024-25, and the 6’7″ PF will have a lot to do with that. He is a long, athletic prospect with great speed, who is outstanding in transition. He likes to play above the rim, but also has a smooth stroke from the outside, and has the ability to knock down the three ball when needed. Defensively, he can guard multiple positions and is a tremendous shot blocker. He rebounds the ball very well on both ends of the court, and looks to push the ball and get out and run. Ashley is a unique prospect who coaches should have their eye on as he enters his senior year.

The transfer from Canterbury fit right into his new home this past season, and was a key piece in the Viking’s turnaround this year, helping lead them to 22-7 record. The 6’7″ PF has a great frame and is long and athletic, and has really developed his post game. Defensively he is a tremendous rebounder and a presence in the paint with his ability to alter and block shots. Ashley averaged 14 ppg, 10 rpg, and 3 bpg on the season and scored a season-high 25 pts twice on the year. He recorded multiple 20+ point games and totaled 16 double-doubles in 2023-24.

Ashley is a great shot blocker and makes a living around the rim where he is an above-average rebounder on both ends of the floor. He has also gained more confidence and consistency when it comes to shooting from the outside. On the defensive end, Ashley has improved his footwork where he can guard out on the perimeter as well as in the paint where he forces the opposition into taking tough shots. His future looks extremely bright for the rest of this season as well as heading into his senior year.

Another Canterbury transfer, Ashley, is settling into his new home quite well. The 6’7″ forward is nearly averaging a double-double with 14.2 ppg and 9.4 rbg, to go along with 1.8 bpg. Ashley is a long, athletic prospect who is great at altering and blocking shots, and is an above-average rebounder on both ends of the court. He likes to play above the rim, but also has a really nice touch on his outside game for a guy his size. Ashley’s best game so far this year came in a victory against The Imagine School, where he finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Jerry Ashley, A 6-7 junior wing who can score off of dribble-drives through contact and is unafraid to shoot the ball from the perimeter. He also adds a good combination skillset of size, length and athleticism where he is an emerging player to keep an eye on. His court vision has also continued to improve where he makes the right reads with and without the ball in his hands.

One of the taller prospects in SWFL, Ashley comes over to the Vikings from cross-town rival Canterbury. He’s a big man who can work down low but also has a nice soft touch. He can definitely put the ball in the basket but where I think he stands out is on the defensive end. His length and wingspan allow him to alter shots, which make him a headache in the middle for opposing offenses, not too mention being a major factor on the boards. Ashley is an intriguing prospect with size, length, and athleticism, that you should continue to monitor throughout this season.
