MN Freshman Showcase: Max’s Guard Standouts

He's lightning quick, and utilizes that quickness on both ends of the floor. Defensively he was causing havoc with his full-court ball pressure, forcing some turnovers which led to easy lay-ups going the other way. On the offensive end he was aggressive getting to the rim, and did a nice job of mixing in some shot fakes to get defenders in the air before going up to finish. Was capable of facilitating off the drive as well. Defenders had such a hard time keeping him in front, as he has a shifty handle and excels at getting downhill towards the basket. Once he shook off the rust, Malachi showcased good body control to just hang in the air and finish against size. He was often the smallest player on the floor, but that didn't stop him from putting up numbers. Owen showcased a lightning quick release, and did a great job of changing his speeds as well as mixing in some shot fakes to create separation to get off his jumper. He was in attack mode looking to get into the paint and either finish or kick it out to one of his shooters on the perimeter. Doesn't over dribble and instead looks to get downhill and attack. He has a shifty handle and dropped a few flashy dimes to set up his teammates for buckets. Kaden is a creative player who was able to beat his initial defender off the dribble and make plays for himself and others going at the rim. He was the smallest player on the floor, but wasn't backing down from anyone. Everett constantly applied pressure to the ball and was causing havoc with his quickness to slide in off the ball as well. He's a tough as nails guard, who despite standing at 5'6 had no fear attacking the basket. Had a tough and-one finish during the first half, and showcased impressive body control on a few more finishes throughout the game.
