The limited scrimmages on Wednesday and Thursday night were filled with high level head-to-head matchups. Here are our takeaways on the prospects we saw from the middle south region of the U.S.
Josiah Moseley Josiah Moseley 6'7" | SF Stony Point | 2024 State #96 Nation TX , 2024, Stony Point (TX)/One Time Legends
Moseley was one of the more impressive all-around players we saw. The 6-foot-7 rising senior is a multi-positional and multi-skilled player who can score inside and out with his combination of strength, touch with either hand and craftiness in using the glass. At first glance Moseley’s game is reminiscent of an undersized four because of his power finishing but he can step out onto the perimeter and beat defenders off the bounce and knock down face-u
Khani Rooths Khani Rooths 6'7" | SF IMG Academy | 2024 State #16 Nation FL , 2024, IMG Academy (FL)/New World
Rooths has the size and skill-set of a modern high major wing. At 6-feet-8 with a long, wiry frame, the rising senior can initiate offense in a point-forward role, create for himself and teammates off the dribble with his feel and knock down three-point and mid-range jumpers. Rooths’ versatility and projection of his frame with his high skill level is why he’s such a highly sought after prospect.
KJ Greene, 2024, Pace Academy (GA)/Upward Stars
Greene is a high IQ game-managing type of point guard whose decision-making in transition and in ball screen action make him a viable point guard option at the next level. Greene has a tight handle on the basketball, doesn’t force bad passes or shots and has an unselfishness to his game that makes the guys around him better. Greene had one game where he lit it up from three-point range.
Micah Smith Micah Smith 6'7" | SF Sandy Creek | 2024 State #144 Nation GA , 2024, Sandy Creek (GA)/AE5
Smith is a wiry-strong and high motor forward whose impact on the game comes in a variety of ways. At 6-feet-8, Smith is a high level transition lane filler and finisher. His ability to elevate, stay on balance through contact and use his length to finish over rim protectors was impressive. Smith showed that he can guard multiple positions and rebound the offensive and defensive glass at a high level.
Mikel Brown, Jr., 2025, The First Academy (FL)/Austin Rivers SE Elite
If I had to pick one guard to build a team around from this event, Brown would be up near the top. The 6-foot-2 point guard plays with elite pace, vision, instincts and passing acumen. Brown excels in ball screen action where his creativity with the ball, changes of speed and direction and willingness to get off the ball and get it in the hands of open shooters. Brown is no slouch of a scorer himself as he knocked down plenty of three-point shots and crafty floaters.
Moustapha Thiam Moustapha Thiam 7'1" | C DME Academy | 2025 State #10 Nation FL , 2025, DME Academy (FL)/Austin Rivers SE Elite
Thiam is a rangy and mobile 7-footer whose combination of soft hands, good footwork and overall athleticism and coordination will allow him to be recruited at the highest of levels. Thiam is a threat to score on the roll in ball screen action because of his catch, gather and finish ability. His best trait, however, is his rim protecting. Thiam has quick first and second jumps, great timing and his effort and energy play perfectly on that end of the floor.
