is a unicorn-like shot blocker. The 7’2 junior is has an elite frame, a ridiculous wingspan, and a willingness to go after every shot that goes up from the paint. He runs the floor like a gazelle, finishes above the rim with power, and has soft touch. Great lob threat who can space the floor change shots in the paint.

The 7-1 junior center has explosive athleticism around the rim where he can catch lobs as well as impressive footwork on the offensive end. On the defensive end, Thiam plays with a ton of versatility as well as adding solid rim protection where he can get out on the open floor. Throughout the season, Thiam has grown more confident in an outside game where he has knocked down shots from beyond the arc at a respectable rate. Look for his stock to continue to rise not just for the rest of this season, but as he gears up for his senior year as well.

Thiam left the biggest impression on me of any big man during Saturday’s games at the Chick-fil-A Classic. He is the prototype of what professional scouts are seeking from the position. Moustapha is listed at 7’1″ with a plus wingspan that is a high-level rim protector but also can shoot and create off the dribble on the offensive end. In DME Academy’s matchup with Dream City Christian, Thiam was particularly good in spurts. Early in the first quarter, he had back-to-back possessions where he had a beautiful assist on a pump and drive followed by a pick-and-pop 3. He finished the game with 11 points and 4 blocks as DME claimed 3rd-Place in the National Bracket.

The 7-0 junior has a ceiling worth of potential as he brings height, length and all-around good frame. Thiam is a traditional back-to-the-basket player who will occasionally pull up from the mid-range. On the defensive side, he is a solid rebounder and shot blocker where he rarely allows the opposition from getting a second look. Thiam also moves exceptionally well for his size and is a threat around the rim whether it’s off lobs or put-backs. Thiam currently holds an offer from UCF, but don’t expect that to be his last offer in the recruitment process.

The 6-11 rising junior has all the intangibles to become an elite prospect. Thiam is an effective finisher around the rim, solid rebounder and an elite shot blocker. Thiam also has the ability to defend multiple positions with his quick and lateral movement for his size. On the defensive end, he plays with a ton of physicality and very rarely allows the opposition to get a second look at the basket. On the offensive end, Thiam plays a traditional back-to-the-basket and gets most of his points off of put backs or lobs.

Another seven-footer that can raise his stock after this weekend. His paint presence makes him a threat offensively and defensively. Been an anchor in the paint with great timing on blocking shots, rebounding, setting screens, and rolling to the rim with the soft touch to finish. UCF recently offered the Thiam, and Cal Poly arrived at the party with an offer in April.
