Richard Goods Richard Goods 6'9" | PF Grimsley | 2024 State NC kicks things off as a top forward prospect as he returns to Piedmont Classical School in 2023-24 following a productive grassroots campaign with Boo Williams on the EYBL stage. He’s an athletic presence at 6-foot-9 that’s finding his confidence as a finisher around the rim and in the painted area. He averaged 17.4 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 2.2 APG and 1.8 BPG on 66 percent shooting from the floor in 2022-23. He’ll have a chance to boost his recruitment this season with offers already from Western Carolina, North Carolina A&T and Seton Hall.
9. Kaleb Spencer Kaleb Spencer 6'9" | PF First Flight | 2024 State NC – 6’9 – First Flight High School
Kaleb Spencer Kaleb Spencer 6'9" | PF First Flight | 2024 State NC will look to be a new face in the First Flight High frontcourt in 2023-24 after spending his career at Manteo High in the seasons prior. He’s an active paint presence on both ends of the floor that should serve as quite the anchor in his role this season for his new squad. He put up 15.5 PPG, 12.6 RPG, 6.2 BPG and 1.8 SPG as a junior at Manteo High. As a versatile presence on the floor, he’ll prove capable of serving any role in the highest-scoring offensive rotation on the East side. Wingate has offered him so far.
8. Clash Peters Clash Peters 6'8" | PF Word of God | 2024 State NC – 6’8 – Word of God Christian Academy
Peters is an underrated big-man prospect to get to know at Moravian Prep this season. He returned to his roots this summer with Team Loaded NC 3SSB after spending time with Trinity Academy Raleigh in the NCISAA. He’ll look to raise his stock/game on the OTE stage with more national implications with Word of God. When he’s focused, he’s a double-double machine that’s hard to slow down when he gets going. As he shows his consistency on the conditioning front, look for college programs to pull the trigger.
7. Braylon Barfield Braylon Barfield 6'7" | PF Richmond County | 2024 State NC – 6’7 – Richmond County Senior High School
Barfield is a new face out of Marlboro County (SC) joining the Richmond County Senior High rotation and debuts as the 3rd best wing in the class given his body of work. He put up 10.9 PPG and 1.7 RPG this past season with his squad and looks to take on a bigger role as he joins a top 4A squad. He recently received an offer from Dean College and holds offers from IUPUI and Quinnipiac, given his ability to operate in space and in the painted area as a wing-forward.
6. David Ellis II David Ellis II 6'8" | C Wilson Prep | 2024 State NC – 6’8 – Wilson Prep Academy
David Ellis II David Ellis II 6'8" | C Wilson Prep | 2024 State NC remains a top available forward in the class given his pedigree for defending the rim and rebounding the ball with his presence. He’s a name coming off a state title with a lot more to prove entering his final season with the Tigers. He averaged 8.2 PPG, 10.7 RPG, 1.5 APG and 1.5 bpg on 68 percent shooting from the field including 14 points, 19 rebounds, five blocks, two steals and two assists in the 1A State Title game. He’s a name for DII and DIII programs in the region to get to know given the energy/effort he plays with on the hardwood.
5. Cal Barrett Cal Barrett 6'9" | SF Moravian Prep | 2025 NC – 6’9 – Bishop McGuinness High School
Cal Barrett Cal Barrett 6'9" | SF Moravian Prep | 2025 NC continues to climb up the radar as a top forward in the 2024 class out of the 336 area. He’s a fast-rising senior prospect with a ton of versatility in his wheelhouse at 6-foot-9. He did work in the NC Spartans Liles rotation this past grassroots cycle. He’s shown he can defend on the perimeter and finish around the rim with consistency and looks to be a strong presence in the Bishop McGuinness rotation following a breakout varsity season. He’s just as equally dangerous when he’s spacing the floor on the perimeter with his shotmaking ability. He’s a name for DI and DII programs in the region to get to know given his size and potential at the forward spot.
4. Bobby Cannon Jr Bobby Cannon Jr 6'10" | PF Forsyth Country Day | 2024 State NC . – 6’10 – Quality Education Academy
Cannon is an impressive 6-foot-10 prospect that’s continued to show his value on the hardwood at the stretch-forward spot. He’s shown he can step out and handle the ball on the perimeter while still maintaining his ability to finish around the rim. He finished the past season with 11.9 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.6 BPG and 1.2 APG this past season in the CAASC Greater Piedmont Conference with Quality Education Academy. As he puts on more bulk and shows his physicality, look for HM college programs to start pulling the trigger on him. North Carolina A&T, East Carolina, Old Dominion, LSU and Winthrop have offered him.
3. Isaiah Sutherland Isaiah Sutherland 6'8" | C United Faith Christian Academy | 2024 State NC – 6’8 – United Faith Christian Academy
Sutherland is an underrated name, at least from a recruiting standpoint, that HM/LM college programs need to get eyes on this season. He’s a big man prospect that plays with a ton of energy while chasing down shots to block and dunks to finish. He’s a rim-runner on the opposite end that looks to dunk everything and gives United Faith Christian Academy a ton of potential as a frontrunner to make another state title run. He’s due for a breakout season after posting 6.0 PPG, 4.2 RPG and 2.1 BPG on 54 percent shooting from the floor in 2022-23.
2. Maurio Hanson Maurio Hanson 6'7" | PF JL Chambers | 2024 State NC – 6’7 – J.L. Chambers High School
Hanson remains one of the more underappreciated big men in the 704 area out of JL Chambers High School. Once his recruitment takes off, he’ll be a huge addition for a HM D1 program given his ability to operate inside and out with his presence and touch inside. He returns looking to lead the frontcourt and then some in 2022-23 after putting up 14.8 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.1 APG and 1.5 BPG as an all-around playmaking presence at the forward spot. He holds a slew of MM offers from the likes of Murray State, Georgia State, East Carolina among other D1 programs.
1. Lewis Walker Lewis Walker 6'6" | PF Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State #178 Nation NC – 6’6 – Winston-Salem Christian School
Walker continues to show off his ability to battle on the perimeter and in the painted area as a proven winner at the forward spot. He’s a prospect that can operate at either forward spot and make things happen off the wing at a high level. He’s a name that’s really blown up at the forward spot over the past few months, reeling in offers from Rhode Island, George Mason, Queens, Hampton, Richmond and Missouri among other D1 programs around the country. Look for him to become a hot commodity in Winston-Salem Christian’s rotation in 2023-24.
