Expert Analysis
Jay Anderson | Prep Hoops Scout
Hanson remains the top big man in the state of North Carolina who still remains unsigned. He’s drawn a number of offers from DI programs already as he continues to impress in the JL Chambers High frontcourt in his final season. He’s producing 16.6 PPG, 9.4 RPG, 4.4 APG and 1.1 BPG on 55 percent shooting from the floor as the Cougars are 7-1 in the Queen City Conference and riding a 3-game winning streak currently. More DI programs in the region would be wise to take a look.

Hanson remains a prospect who’s climbing up the radar of DI programs in the region at Chambers High as the season moves along. He’s burden in the painted area for opponents to deal with, posting 16.1 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 4.1 APG, 1.1 BPG and 1.0 SPG on 53 percent shooting from the floor so far in 2023-24. He’s an underrated playmaker out of the painted area as evidenced by his last outing against Cannon School. He dished out nine assists to go along with 25 points, four rebounds and two steals. He’s recently earned offers from USC Upstate and Queens University. Look for a few more programs to get in the mix.

The underrecruited big man out of JL Chambers High is off to a fast start as they’re 2-0 on the young season. He’s averaging a double-double already with 18.0 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 2.5 APG and 1.5 BPG on 58 percent shooting from the field so far. Colleges in need of a big man presence would be wise to get eyes on him soon!

Last Season Stats – 14.8 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 1.5 BPG
Hanson is a high level player who should post big numbers once again this year. Great interior scorer with a left hand coaches would die for. Back to the basket game is strong, with multiple moves to go to. Also can be a capable passer when teams sag or double him down low. Getting better on defense and rebounding, but more athleticism and a higher motor would be even more beneficial. He projects as a 4 man at the next level who can command the interior, and should do the same this season.
