THE FAVORITE – Nicolet
The Knights were the runner-up last season, but rallied to reach the Division 2 state tournament, falling in a heartbreaker to Pewaukee. At 24-5 overall, Nicolet now reloads as much as any top team in the state. The top six scorers are all back for the Knights, including the state’s top ranked junior Davion Hannah Davion Hannah 6'5" | SF Nicolet | 2025 State #33 Nation WI , who averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists per game last season. That young backcourt of junior David Bolden David Bolden 6'0" | PG Nicolet | 2025 State WI (11.9 ppg) and sophomore Rashaad Davis Rashaad Davis 5'10" | PG Nicolet | 2026 State WI (10.8 ppg) should also be a lot better.

DARK HORSE – Grafton
As far as backcourt go, it doesn’t get better than Michael McNabb Michael McNabb 6'4" | CG Grafton | 2024 State WI (23.7 ppg) and Juan Guerrero Hernandez Juan Guerrero Hernandez 6'3" | CG Grafton | 2025 State #189 Nation WI (18.6 ppg). The question for Grafton? Can they get some depth, especially after third-leading scorer Jaiye Famakinwa has moved on? The Black Hawks were an up-and-down group in 2022-23, but battled injuries en route to a 13-12 season. Even with some tough personnel losses, Homestead is going to be Homestead. Consistency on a nightly basis could push Grafton into the title discussion.

MOST IMPROVED – Hartford
Could see this group moving up to the middle of the league, if not slightly higher. Beyond the top three, it’s a wide open race in the North Shore this winter. Hartford was 10-15 last season, including a respectable 7-11 in league play. Leading scorer and returning All-Conference guard Zach Herrmann (15.7 ppg) is back to run the show. Sophomore guard Sam Richter Sam Richter 6'3" | PG Hartford Union | 2026 WI (6.2 ppg) should also take a nice jump forward.

W Trevor Polite Trevor Polite 6'6" | SF Homestead | 2025 State WI – Jr. (Homestead)
PLAYER OF THE YEAR – Michael McNabb Michael McNabb 6'4" | CG Grafton | 2024 State WI
The North Shore generally awards a senior here. Should be an interesting battle with Franks, his AAU teammate, but statistically, the edge should go to McNabb. The North Shore’s leading returning scorer and rebounder from a year ago, McNabb is coming off a junior season in which he averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists per game. The Northern Michigan commit also shot 59 percent from the floor and grabbed 2.4 steals per contest as well.
Highlights
SLEEPER – Josh Arnold
Arnold gave Port Washington nearly 11 points per game as a sophomore. With PW losing their top two scorers, Arnold steps right into that primary role as a junior. A playmaker on the ball, Arnold also dished out over four assists per outing.
MOST IMPROVED – Brett Palm Brett Palm 5'10" Slinger | 2026 WI
With so much talent in the North Shore, Palm wasn’t talked about a whole lot. The 5-foot-10 guard quietly had a nice freshman season, averaging 10.3 points per game for a Slinger squad that was led by two seniors.
