Continue ReadingAAU returned to Las Vegas for the first live period since before Covid happened, and there were multiple big time tournaments featuring some of the top teams from across the country. It was the perfect setting for the hundreds of college coaches in attendance and scouts that made the trip, as we got to see the top talent in the country.
Here’s a look at part two of some of the standouts that I saw from the Florida teams.
Toni Bryant Toni Bryant 6'9" | PF North Tampa Christian | 2026 State FL | 6’10” PF | SE Elite 2026
Bryant is considered one of the top players in the country in the 2026 class, and he showed his major upside in Vegas with his blend of size, athleticism and ball skills on the perimeter. At 6’10” Bryant already has great size and he’s an effortless athlete that gets up and down the floor and plays above the rim with ease, he can step out on the perimeter where he’s a good shooter and he can put it on the deck and he is a good rim protector and moves well defensively.
Martay Barnes | 6’2” PG | SE Elite 2027
Barnes was playing up on the SE Elite 15U team as a rising freshman, and he was very impressive as he made plays for himself and others and he stepped up big down the stretch when they needed him to. He plays with poise and an IQ well beyond his years, he showed great feel as a playmaker, he made shots from multiple levels both off the catch and off the bounce and he showed a knack for stepping up big down the stretch in close games.
Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'6" | SF Norland (FL) | 2024 State #56 Nation FL | 6’7” WF | SOH Elite 2024
Allen is a nationally ranked wing who was highly impressive for SOH in their games at the Sport Radar tournament, and he is set to have a huge senior season at Miami Norland. At 6’7” he’s a big time athlete who thrives in transition and gets downhill where he’s able to play above the rim, he’s strong and does a good job defending and rebounding around the rim and he made shots from multiple levels off the catch and off the bounce.
Shon Abaev Shon Abaev 6'7" | CG Calvary Christian | 2025 State #24 Nation FL | 6’7” WF | SOH Elite 2025
Abaev has blown up this summer picking up high major offers from some of the biggest programs in the country, and seeing him for the first time in Vegas made it very clear why as he has a lot of intriguing tools that will translate well to the next level. The 6’7” wing has prototypical size with long arms and a frame that should fill out, he shoots the ball very well from deep and in the midrange when he gets to the pull-up, he plays with a toughness and a good motor and he’ll likely get more athletic with time.
Anthony Knowles Anthony Knowles 5'10" | CG Mater Lakes | 2025 State #93 Nation FL | 6’0” PG | SOH Elite 2025
Knowles is another rising junior that played up with this SOH team, and he impressed in a lot of different ways running the show and setting the tone on both ends for this group. The Mater Lakes lead guard is a tough nosed guard who will sit down and guard the length of the floor, he’s shifty off the bounce with the ability to create shots for himself and others and he has a knack for making tough finishes over bigger defenders when he gets downhill.
