This article will go over some of the top performers, but I’ll have more articles coming out highlighting new names, stock risers, and other notable players.
Jaxon Dubiel Jaxon Dubiel 6'3" | CG Mountlake Terrace | 2024 State WA | Mountlake Terrace | 2024
His defensive ability and offensive versatility were evident this weekend. While the Hawks weren’t able to get the win against Cheney, Dubiel did a pretty solid job guarding the Blackhawks’ 6-foot-7 scorer, Evan Stinson Evan Stinson 6'7" | SF Cheney | 2024 State #223 Nation WA , who has seen the offers flood in since the event. Dubiel uses leverage well, has great anticipation, and excellent hands to slow down offensive players. He also showed flashes of elite ability to split defenders and get to the hoop. He’s a smooth player and made impact plays on both ends of the floor.
Kofi Peyton Kofi Peyton 6'4" | SG Federal Way | 2024 State WA | Federal Way | 2024
Peyton was letting it fly this weekend and converted at a pretty good clip. He can be a little streaky but he’s capable of taking over at times to spur little runs for his team. He hit a lot of shots behind the arc, played strong with the ball, and was generally making quick decisions. He looked more aggressive on both ends than last season and could be ready for a big season with Federal Way.
Finnegan Anderson Finnegan Anderson 6'5" | SF Davis | 2024 State WA | Davis | 2024
Anderson continues to have an impressive spring and summer season. He’s a much more effective scorer with the ball and attacking the rim. He’s still an excellent shooter with size who can rebound at a high rate, but he’s a much bigger threat to penetrate and use that size at the rim to collapse the defense and find teammates.
Blake Garza Blake Garza 6'6" | SF Davis | 2024 State WA | Davis | 2024
Garza is a lanky, athletic forward and found a lot of success around the paint this weekend. While the dribble was still a little loose at times, he’s definitely improved his ability to attack off the bounce, and looks like he’s worked on that jump shot too. He was not worried about smaller players at all while attacking the hoop inside and was able to outjump those who could contend with his length.
Cesar Hernandez Cesar Hernandez 6'0" | PG Davis | 2025 State WA | Davis | 2025
A silky smooth shooter, Hernandez doesn’t have to force shots for Davis but he showed the ability to score in a hurry and with little exertion. He always looks calm out there and can break down defenders and get his shot off quickly. He’s also a threat off the ball, making more than a few well-timed backdoor cuts this weekend and just reading the floor well.
Evan Stinson Evan Stinson 6'7" | SF Cheney | 2024 State #223 Nation WA | Cheney | 2024
The Cheney product was one of the more impressive players of the weekend. He has a killer mid-range game and was abusing defenders with his pull-up over and over. He has a few different moves to set them up, and his ability to score from all levels and attack with the pass makes that pull-up that much more deadly. He was a clear difference-maker on the court and has the IQ to affect the game in a lot of ways.
Ishe Kanhukamwe Ishe Kanhukamwe 5'9" | PG Garfield | 2024 State WA | Garfield | 2024
Garfield’s starters didn’t play a ton in the first game I watched of theirs, but when Ishe was on the court, he challenged ballhandlers, forced pickups, and disrupted their offensive flow. Later on, I saw him play more minutes and he continued providing high pressure on the ball while taking advantage of space on the offensive end, splashing in three after three.
Jamari Harris Jamari Harris 6'5" | SG Garfield | 2024 State WA | Garfield | 2024
Another new Bulldog took the floor this weekend. Harris has been a lengthy guard for a while now, but he looks much stronger and his physical tools were unmatched in a lot of their games. He was big at the rim, eating up space on the dribble, looking super bouncy and strong finishing the play, and providing great rebounding from the backcourt. He was also a big factor jumping passing lanes and creating quick, easy buckets.
Legend Smiley Legend Smiley 6'5" | SG Garfield | 2025 State #98 Nation WA | Garfield | 2025
Smiley was a calm, constant force who showcased his normal smooth jumper and was unbothered by shot contests. He hardly looked challenged out there and displayed some masterful passing to all areas of the floor. He looks ready to be a smart playmaker who will get teammates involved when he can, and take over when he has to.
Martin Kaupanger Martin Kaupanger 6'5" | SG Annie Wright | 2025 State WA | Annie Wright | 2025
I talked bout Kaupanger’s strength just last week, and he was at it again at Mt Si, finishing through contact at the rim and really asserting himself on the glass. He showed a strong will, outworking players to finish plays in the paint. He also found some rhythm from long-range, made a few defensive plays, and displayed a pretty well-rounded game.
Doni Burkett Doni Burkett 6'2" | PG O'Dea | 2026 State WA | Federal Way | 2026
Burkett was one of the more natural-looking players with the ball in his hands, who just seems to have ease scoring the ball and reading the floor. He was awesome from 3-point range, played under control, and was able to attack gaps with patience and purpose. He was just as impressive defensively, anticipating drives, shutting down ballhandlers, and reading passes to get tips and steals. He’s a high-IQ guy that looks primed for a breakout season.
Zaveon Jones Zaveon Jones 6'2" | SF Mountlake Terrace | 2024 State WA | Mountlake Terrace | 2024
The 6-foot-2 forward looks even stronger than last season but he hasn’t lost his foot speed at all. He exhibited the positioning and touch on the offensive end that helped him counter taller defenders all of last season, and showed an ability to stay in front of talented players on the perimeter. He was money at the free-throw line and was really smart in picking his spots to attack.
Lattimore Ford Lattimore Ford 6'6" | SF Mt Si | 2026 State WA | Mt Si | 2026
Just an exceptional athlete, Ford was big at the rim on both ends. He played with a high motor and was pretty efficient in the paint, either scoring or drawing fouls. The biggest takeaway from his game this weekend was his ability to take guys off the dribble. The middle got a little bunched up at times for Mt Si but when Ford took to the perimeter, the middle opened up and he was able to attack with lots of space in behind that initial defender.
Trevor Hennig Trevor Hennig 6'4" | SG Mt Si | 2024 State WA | Mt Si | 2024
This guy had a monster weekend scoring the ball. He rained in shots from three, hit contested pull-ups, and was able to finish with big dunks and strong takes at the rim. He also handled the ball a fair amount and created a lot of opportunities off the dribble. He looked in great shape and handled a big load, but still had the energy to make some big plays defensively too.
