Swanny’s Top 10: (In no certain order)
Teal Jr is a MANCHILD on the hardwood with the ability to bully defenders on the way to the cup. Melvin touched the paint at will today for the Summerville HS Green Wave. When he wasn’t touching the paint, he was scoring the ball from 3 levels on the floor.
Tristan Thompson Tristan Thompson 6'5" | SF Wilson | 2025 State #339 Nation SC
Thompson had a good weekend for the Tigers picking up offers from Jacksonville University and South Carolina State University. Tristan brings good length and versatility to floor. He was able to handle the rock up the court from the lead guard at times or simply move over to the wing. Thompson can defend anywhere on the court it seems with his versatility. Tristan suits up for the Wilson HS Tigers and Head Coach Carlos Powell.
Britt came to play this weekend for the Gray Collegiate War Eagles. LJ finished strong to the bucket when he wasn’t pulling up from downtown or mid-range. Britt is certainly a 3-level scorer is just another piece to the puzzle here for the War Eagles and Head Coach Dion Bethea
Cedric Schofield Cedric Schofield 6'7" | PF Keenan | 2025 State SC
Schofield is a Under the Radar type guy who plays in downtown Columbia at Eau Claire HS. Cedric is a glass cleaner and seems to claim everything off the boards. He will look to contest shots on the defensive end of the floor. Cedric glides all over and seems most effective inside the paint area just playing on activity.
Joshua Goodman Joshua Goodman 6'4" | SF Hampton County | 2025 State SC
Goodman plays down at the new Hampton County HS (Wade Hampton and Estill HS) merging in the Lowcountry ‘ last=”]. Joshua has really filled out his frame and was able to really knockdown some shots today. He plays with a good motor that always seems to be running high on all cylinders. Goodman was great picking up deflections in the passing lanes today.
Cedric Cisse Cedric Cisse 6'0" | CG Lakewood | 2025 State SC
Cisse is the leader of this Lakewood HS Gators squad. Cedric was quick getting the ball into the gaps and touching the paint all day long. He exploded by defenders in the open court and along the baseline. Head Coach Cameron Lee is expecting a big year out of this young man.
Jykevius Johnson Jykevius Johnson 6'4" | PF Andrew Jackson | 2025 State SC
Johnson is a workhorse on the floor as a TWEENER. He runs the floor well while filling the lane in transition. Jy’Kevius rebounded the ball on both ends of the floor and especially outside of his area. He’s a touch matchup on the floor with his ability to run the floor and to get by bigger post players.
Tahj Lathon Tahj Lathon 6'5" | SF Marion | 2025 State SC
Lathon came to play today for the Swamp Foxes and new Head Coach DJ Kelly. Tahj a long and agile forward played aggressive all day long. He finished putbacks around the glass and contested shots on the defensive end of the floor. Tahj connected on few bombs from downtown to boot for the Swamp Foxes.
Yasir Cromer Yasir Cromer 5'10" | PG River Bluff | 2025 State SC
Cromer is a kid that kind of grows on you with his effort and play every time out. Yasir is a vocal leader from the guard position for the River Bluff HS Gators. Cromer was able to hurt the defense today with his ability to dial up from downtown after connecting on several three-pointers. Yasir won’t overwhelm you over with just one thing he does because he does several things well while on the floor for the Gators.
Ja’Kease Salley Ja’Kease Salley 6'5" | SF Woodland | 2025 State SC
Salley is a Run-Jump-Athlete at Woodland HS in the Lowcountry ‘ last=”]. Ja’Kease was able to finish all over the floor at times today for the Wolverines. He collected a few dunks when he wasn’t knocking down some short jumpers. Salley plays above the rim and really seems to excel in the transition game.
Who’s is This Guy?
Prep Hoops ran across a new name for sure in Devin Swindler Devin Swindler 6'3" | SF Clinton | 2025 State SC . Swindler is a very athletic and HIGH MOTOR kid from Clinton HS. Devin has great footwork and seemed to be wherever the ball was at today for the Red Devils. Swindler scored the ball on just effort alone and making plays for himself through total HUSTLE.
Small Town Kids in Chesterfield County:
Tyrek Wright Tyrek Wright 5'11" | PG McBee | 2025 State SC plays at McBee HS a small Class 1A program in the Pee Dee. Wright a left-handed guard is also a Quarterback on the football team in the fall. Wright a rangy guard connected on some floaters today. Tyrek is the primary ball-handler for the squad and averaged 16.1 ppg this past season for the Panthers.
Caden Edmond Caden Edmond 6'2" | SG Central Pageland | 2025 State SC is just up the road from Wright at Central HS in Pageland. Edmond has seen extensive playing time over the years for the Eagles. Caden came into the #SCLive sporting a new look to him. Edmond is a shot maker and when he gets going, he really gets going. Caden averaged 11.7 ppg this past season and currently has 605 career points entering his junior year. Edmond runs with the HYB Raptors on the Grassroots Circuit.
Smaller Guards Produce Bigger Numbers:
Destin Eichelberger Destin Eichelberger 5'9" | PG Berea | 2025 State SC and Kingston Brown Kingston Brown 5'7" | PG Berea | 2025 State SC
This duo from Berea HS is certainly not the biggest on the floor. Eichelberger was in control all day long with his play for the Bulldogs. Destin finished with his left-hand on a regular basis at the rim and was quick to show the bounce pass (lost art) to his teammates. He played productive and smart all day long and the game we witnessed he dropped 26 points on VERY SELECTIVE SHOOTING. Destin really used a nice pull-up jumper all day long to score the ball.
Brown a left-handed guard compliments Eichelberger quite well in the Bulldogs backcourt. Kingston played on and off the ball and was a pest in the passing lanes. Brown had no problem taking a charge on command it seemed.
