Check out below some of the matchups and players we’re most excited to get an eye on during the second day of play, Sunday June 18th.
Morning Session
Central Cabarrus and Richmond County may be the best matchup of the entire elite camp, and this one I’ll make sure to be able to watch. CC has the well-known Daniel twins in Chase Daniel Chase Daniel 6'1" | PG Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC and Carson Daniel Carson Daniel 6'1" | PG Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC , both elite playmakers with and without the ball. They will be joined by maybe the biggest spring stockriser in NC, Desmond Kent Jr Desmond Kent Jr 6'5" | SF Central Cabarrus | 2024 State NC ., a springy long wing. Guys like Emari Russell Emari Russell 5'10" | SG Central Cabarrus | 2025 State NC and Noah Edmisten may also be poised for breakout years, but there’s definitely a lot to learn about the Vikings in their supporting cast this summer. Richmond County is similar, with well known NC State commit Paul McNeil leading the charge. Jullien Cole Jullien Cole 6'4" | SF Shiloh | 2024 State GA will also be a key returner that we’ve seen plenty of, but guys like Javian Drake Javian Drake 5'10" | PG Richmond Senior | 2024 State NC and Jayden Hamilton have a lot more to prove. They’re good complementary pieces, but I’ll want to see if they can play key roles on this year’s Richmond team.
Afternoon Session
Mallard Creek and South Mecklenburg will be the final matchup I’m interested in on the weekend, with both teams possessing young talent to watch for. Mallard Creek boasts 2026 gem Rassell Young Rassell Young 6'2" | CG Mallard Creek | 2026 State NC , as well as dynamite scorer Jalyn Connor Jalyn Connor 5'10" | PG Charlotte Elite Academy | 2025 State NC . Both are prospects oozing with potential, and I’d like to see how they do with some more experience in running the show in the backcourt. South Mecklenburg will benefit greatly from another year of Peter Moye Peter Moye 6'3" | SG South Mecklenburg | 2024 State NC , a gritty scorer that just seems to always get it done no matter what is thrown at him every game. Anderson Skelton Anderson Skelton 6'4" | CG South Mecklenburg | 2024 State NC and Yariel Chudgar are good complementary pieces that should be crucial to improving the team’s performance, but I’ll want to get an eye on Jim Gatehouse Jim Gatehouse 6'3" | CG South Mecklenburg | 2026 State NC , the freshman who could be poised to be the next dynamic scorer at the school. He’s been performing well on the grassroots circuit with Team Griggs and seems like a guy who knows how to get to his spots on the floor and draw contact for fouls. This may not be the most hyped matchup of the weekend, but I think it can be a good barometer about how two schools may be shaping up in the 704 this winter.
