With a record number of transfers entering the portal, offers to high school players have become more and more scarce. However, these guards rank among the top 20 players in a deep Washington class of seniors. Here are the top uncommited guards in the 2023 class.
Lobor is a strong guard with great size and length that helps him on both ends of the floor. He’s a good threat with the ball in his hands, using a quick first step to blow by defenders and showing the necessary strength to keep them on his backside while he finishes at the rim. The length plays on defense too, where Lobor is an excellent rebounding guard and able to matchup with guards and wings on the perimeter, while taking bigger wings in the post. He has offers from Iowa State, Maine, Western Illinois, Buffalo, Missouri State, Murray State, and Tennessee State.
The 2B state player of the year and state champion, Rainwater is a big guard capable of playing both spots in the backcourt. His playmaking, decision making, and athleticism were on full display this season as the 6-foot-6 guard put up monster numbers scoring, rebounding, and passing the ball. He is still very early in his development and as his 3-point shot and handle continue to improve, he will really start to show how high his potential is. He has offers from Idaho State, Central Washington, and Utah Tech.
McDaniel is a guy who’s been through the gambit in the last two years, dealing with injury, then making the decision to leave Silas for BFL this season. After receiving multiple division one offers his sophomore year, he started to regain his form last summer and into this season, where has really found his stride with BFL prep. The guard is a strong player with the ball, combining patience with excellent floor vision and an ability to stretch the defense with his shot. He is fully capable of running on offense with the intangibles you look for in a showrunner. McDaniel has offers from Washington, Oregon State, Utah, Pepperdine, UCSB, Montana, and Portland State.
The 6-foot-5 combo guard has been steadily improving since last season and the full scope of his work and potential were on display at the 3A state tournament this year. He averaged over 21 points and 11 boards, and led his team to the biggest upset of the tournament. He’s shown he can take over games with his scoring with a pack of moves from the triple threat and mid-range, but he’s also a guy with great vision that can manipulate defenses and facilitate. He was previously recruited by Western Oregon, Central Washington, and Eastern Washington.
Highlights
Miller took to expanding his game this season, adding some refinement and finesse to his explosive play. Not only did he polish up the handle and the outside shooting, but Miller looked more aggressive getting into the paint and using his strength to finish through and over defenders. He’s heading in the right direction offensively and showing that potential as a two-way player at the next level. He has offers from Montana and the University of Evansville.
