The 2B state player of the year and state champion, Rainwater is a big guard capable of playing both spots in the backcourt. His playmaking, decision making, and athleticism were on full display this season as the 6-foot-6 guard put up monster numbers scoring, rebounding, and passing the ball. He is still very early in his development and as his 3-point shot and handle continue to improve, he will really start to show how high his potential is. He has offers from Idaho State, Central Washington, and Utah Tech.

He might get that championship. What impressed me with him was his ability to facilitate. At times it looks like he could score 40,but the amount of assists he had to wide open teammates was special. He picked the defense apart when he was doubled . He would blow by the defense and drop it to his teammate for a layup time after time. He plays the game with a smoothness and effortlessly,. Always under control and never panics. He also threw down a bunch of highlight reel dunks. He is the real deal.

Rainwater has taken his breakout season a year ago and ran with it. He’s one of the most explosive players in his class but has tightened up that 3-point shot and continues to put up big games without having to force much outside of the game flow. The thing that impressed me most with his development is his ability to use his explosiveness, or the threat of it, against defenders. He gets guys ready for a big jump at the rim then steps around them for the finish or pump fakes and finds a teammate diving in.

Tennessee puts up big numbers nightly for Davenport. He’s a special player who plays the game patiently and deliberately. Against Reardan, he dropped 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists to almost reach that triple double mark. I’ll make a prediction now saying he will have a triple double at some point this season.

I watched a couple of his games this week. He was equally as dominant in both. He scored 34 points in a win over Chewelah and followed with 32 more in a 74-50 win over Napavine. He is no doubt the most explosive athlete in class 2B. He would be a stud at any level. His quick first step makes him tough to stay in front of and he gets to the rim when he wants. He is a player that probably could have scored a lot more but he is unselfish and realizes that his teammates will often be open as a result of the attention he draws. He had numerous assists to wide-open teammates for layups after getting the defense on its heels. He is a great post-up player vs smaller guards and he rebounds well. His athleticism translates directly to the next level. At 6’6, he has great size for a guard and he can defend well with his quickness. Small school, big-time talent. He is one of the best guards at any level in the state. He has the look of a player who has a huge upside, which is scary. He is right up there with Kelson Gebbers Kelson Gebbers 6'6" | SF Brewster | 2023 State WA of Brewster as an early favorite for class 2B player of the year.

How do you think your off-season went? What are you most looking forward to this season?rn-My off season went well, I cannot complain, but I definitely wanted more and still have some more to prove. I am most looking forward to setting the tone in ever game I play in this season.
What are some things that stand out about your game? Things that coaches can see and know you excel atrn-My game is very versatile, I’m strong, and can guard and play all positions. I’m athletic and run the floor well.
What are you looking for in a school beyond HS?rn-I want to just show everyone that I am a player who is constantly getting better, and can adjust to any atmosphere/place he plays in. I want to show people I’m more than just a small town hooper.
Have you been in contact with any coaches/schools? If so, what schools?rn-I have been in contact with Utah Tech, Air Force, Central Washington, Seattle U, Eastern Washington, and Navy.
What do you want to improve on most in your game before playing at the next level?rn-I want to improve my jump shot always! And continue to get more athletic and just playing as much basketball as I can against the best competition as I can do I’m more prepared for that next level of play.

To be honest, if I were to have done this last year at this time, he probably wouldn’t have been on the list of three. That has changed, and seeing him in person over the summer had a lot to do with it. He is an explosive above the rim type player. He has great size for a guard, and his athletic ability is unmatched at the 2B level. If you want to see some of the best players in 2B, there will be a weekend just before Christmas that will see Brewster host Davenport and Napavine. Three of the top teams in 2B and three of the best players in 2B. My wild card is from Napavine.

Davenport features the most athletic player in 2B, and one of the highest ranked prospects in all classifications. They missed the state tournament a year ago. He’s going to be a handful and will put up big time numbers.
