The first batch of 2026 prospects rankings came out on Monday morning. In case you missed it, you can check out the complete Top 20 RIGHT HERE. The 2026 class has a great combination of guards, forwards and big men already. Another aspect of the 2026 class has been the outstanding shooters that have emerged in this class. In this article, we feature some of the top shooters that have gotten out to strong starts to their high school career. This article does not feature any guards within the top ten because there are a few top shooters within that group. But they will be featured later this week! Keep it locked in to Prep Hoops Oklahoma for more prospect breakdowns and throughout the month of February for more ranking updates.
We kick off the breakdown with Dale freshman Denton Forsythe Denton Forsythe 6’1″ | PG Dale | 2026 State OK and it’s hard not to talk about what the Pirates have done this season. You can certainly make the case that they have the best player in 2024 guard Dayton Forsythe Dayton Forsythe 6’3″ | PG Dale | 2024 State #206 Nation OK and that they are the best team in Oklahoma today. The freshman Forsythe has also had a great start to his career even though the majority of the attention with the Pirates goes to older brother Dayton. Denton is still a name that basketball heads in Oklahoma need to get familiar with. We watched him for three days at the TOC and he’s primarily used as a shooter on this loaded Dale team. And as we mentioned, this could be the best team in Oklahoma and with just about everyone coming back, that’s not changing anytime soon.
Community Christian freshman Destin Edwards Destin Edwards 5’9″ | PG Community Christian | 2026 State OK was definitely one of the more known shooters within the state’s 2026 class coming into his freshman season. The Community Christian standout has backed up the hype with his ability to absolutely fill it up from all over the floor. Community Christian made a run to the Class 3A state championship game a season ago and had to settle for silver. This year, the Royals moved up to Class 4A and they’ve felt it in the record as they’ve suffered some lumps throughout the year. But throughout the season, Edwards continues to produce and do it at a high level. He’s definitely a name to keep an eye on moving forward when you talk about pure shooters within this class. What will be interesting is watching his development moving forward in the other areas of his game.
The Sapulpa Chieftains are going through quite a bit of growing pains this season as they look to become more competitive in Class 5A despite playing against primarily 6A opponents. Part of the growing pains is starting and playing several freshmen. Fabian Harris Fabian Harris 6’3″ | SG Tulsa Memorial | 2026 State OK is one of those freshman that not only is receiving quite a bit of playing time but he’s starting to figure some things out on the court and taking the next step as a prospect. Harris is another shooter to keep an eye on moving forward. We got our first look at him back at the Freshman Showcase in August and he impressed that day. He’s continued that momentum so far this season and it looks like this is just the start for him. We think that the combination of young talent and a hard schedule will pay off in a big way for Sapulpa in the future.
Our final prospect might be the best scorer of the bunch on this breakdown. Casady freshman Kaden Leache Kaden Leache 6’1″ | PG Casady School | 2026 State OK is without a doubt one of the top freshmen in the state that not enough people know about. Part of that is the fact that Casady isn’t an OSSAA-member school and because of that, they simply don’t get as much coverage as others around the state, similar to other programs like Destiny Christian, NOAH and OKC Storm. But Leache has showed that he deserves the attention so far this season. Leache has earned multiple accolades in various tournaments and has had several games where he’s dropped 20+ points and made it look easy. Leache is definitely a prospect we’re going to keep an eye on moving forward because he is just getting started.
