These names have averaged 10 or more points for their season, stats are relative from January 6th, numbers could be subject to change. Featuring a group of guards, these athletes are truly focused on their perimeter skillsets, carving out of role already.
Madden Smiley Madden Smiley 6'2" | CG Windsor | 2026 State CO – Windsor
Smiley has been one of the more consistent freshman guards, fitting like a glove into Windsor’s offense. The combo guard has posted 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2.2 steals per game while going 43% from the field. Already possessing dependable shooting off the catch, Smiley has played a valuable role in Windsor’s halfcourt offense. Given his immediate shooting gravity, the guard is able to leverage driving lanes for open looks. He has the footwork necessary to step into jumpers, but may also keep his eyes open for a dish. Among freshman, Smiley has some of the best conditioning, proving to exemplify the energy coach wants going either direction on the break.
Jeilo Hamenyimana – Harrison
Hamenyimana should be on everyone’s radar, the crafty shotmaker can get buckets out of the pick and roll. The freshman guard from Colorado Springs possesses highly capable pull-up equity, ranging out to the three point line. Beware, anyone leaving him more than a couple feet of space is making a grave mistake. To kick off Harrison’s 5-3 start to the season, Hamenyimana has posted 11 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game. Attempting roughly 5 threes per game, Hamenyimana is already a volume shooter, however that number of attempts will rise with age. It is not often there are three level scorers at his age. Hamenyimana competes on the defensive end, roaming all over the place to intercept passing lanes. Keep tabs on this guard, not many as skilled nor with his upside as a team first defender and off the dribble scorer.
DJ Hawkins – Pomona
Hawkins has been a pleasant surprise with 4-6 Pomona. Already leading the team in points per game, Hawkins is a quick decisionmaker at all times. The freshman combo guard has posted 11.6 points, 2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while contributing 32% of three point attempts. Already a volume shooter, keep tabs on Hawkins’ mid-range craft, notably on floaters. There are still a few areas for the guard to grow, notably through his positional strength. There is no doubt that Hawkins will be an influential player with this program for years to come, already much more skilled than most freshman guards.
Alejandro Flores – Aurora Central
Flores possesses a very quick jumper off the catch, allowing him to flow into shots off movement. Standing right aruond 5’7, Flores has posted 13.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while contributing roughly 36% of three point attempts. Mainly playing off of their lead guards, Flores has carved out a floor spacing role for himself. As he gets a larger opportunity to playmaker in the coming seasons, we will see how much he may leverage his shooting gravity.
