Two come from Mark Morris, and they still have one out with injury who is expected to return soon. One from R.A. Long who might lead class 2A in scoring this season. Woodland has their dynamic scoring point guard back and off to a great start. Tumwater from the Evergreen portion of the 2A has one of the best scorers in district 4 and Black Hills is getting some great scoring from a relatively new name amongst the leaders.
He is off to a strong start to the season, netting over 20 points in each of his first 3 games. Mark Morris is off to a 2-1 start with wins over Mountlake Terrace, where he had 29, and Hudson’s Bay (22). He had 25 in the two-point loss to 4A Jackson. He is a creative scoring guard whose points come in a variety. He also had a dunk vs Hudson’s Bay after missing one early in the game, he redeemed himself by throwing one down shortly after. This speaks to his athletic ability at 6’1. He has been solid so far in all three games and should continue to have that success as he averaged around 19 last season.
He opened his senior season with a 37-point effort vs Hockinson in an 81-34 victory. He is my favorite to win the class 2A scoring title. Heis off to the start I would expect. He drilled 7 threes in the game. His sweet shooting stroke is one of the reasons why he will get points in a hurry. He is well-rounded and will score off the dribble, getting by the defense. He is one of the best at reading the defense and reacting accordingly. He is a playmaking guard who can score on anyone from anywhere. We should get used to numbers like this, he will be one of the top-scoring guards in 2A with his skill set. It all starts with his ability to hit shots from well beyond the three-point line. He is somewhat of a Stephen Curry-like guard if you will.
He is the other dynamic scoring guard for Mark Morris. Playing without Deacon Dietz Deacon Dietz 6’3″ | SG Mark Morris | 2023 State WA who is set to come back anytime from an ankle injury suffered during football season. Olson has averaged just under 20 points a game in his three games. He led Mark Morris with 23 vs Hudson’s Bay, had 21 vs Mountlake Terrace, and 15 in the loss to Jackson. This duo of Olson and Parlin will take turns leading the Monarchs in scoring all season. That makes them tough to guard since you can’t just focus on any one player. Olson is one of the most highly skilled guards in 2A and the state. He has tremendous ball skills and is the best pull-up jumper in the state, something that I have mentioned before.
He has been consistently good for Woodard in their 2-0 start to the season. He finished with 24 points in each win. He is a point guard who scores at a very high level. He is long and athletic at 6’1. He is a slashing type of guard with great handles who can get around the defense with his quickness and great ball-handling skills. He can and does shoot the three, and hits quite a bit from distance. His game is built for the open floor and getting to the basket. He also displays a nice mid-range game with a floater and a pull-up J that he uses often. I expect him to be one of the best guards in District 4 and all of 2A this season. Averaging 24 points a game through his first two games, he is off to a great start after averaging 18 a game last year.

He has been off to a sizzling start to the season. He had 28 points in a win over Aberdeen and 24 in a loss to Adna in the season opener. I saw him this summer and he can shoot it from deep. Although he wasn’t hitting from long distance vs Aberdeen, he was still able to get 28 which speaks to his all-around ability to score the basketball. He is a good scoring guard who has been good for the Black Hills for the last two years. He had a solid season last year with around 11 points a game and appears to have taken the next step and is becoming a big-time scorer for the Wolves.
He opened his senior season by breaking the school record for career threes and scoring 34 points in an impressive win over 3A Kelso. As one of the best shooting guards in 2A, he will be a consistent source of scoring for Tumwater this season after avenging 19 a game last season. I watched the Kelso game and after a little bit of a slow start he got it going hitting several threes in the third quarter when Tumwater pulled away and stretched their lead. He didn’t force the issue and let the game come to him. He does so many other things for this team, and is the catalyst on both ends of the floor. Tumwater looked impressive in this one and showed that they have the depth to be one of the top teams in 2A this season.
