Beech fits exactly how Medina wants to play with his size, ball handling and passing skills. I was impressed with the basketball IQ that Beech showed, he knocked down shots, has a variety of skills on the court. I’ve been showing Medina a lot of love but with their fast-paced system that promotes ball movement and shooting, lots of prospects from their program are immediately ready to contribute offensively at the next level. Beech is another example of a prospect I expect to fit like a glove at the next level with his feel for the game and passing.
The most common question I’m asked from college coaches is always, ‘any bigs available’ so whenever I find a guy who can play either the 4 or the 5 at the next level, I’m instantly intrigued. Hargett can space the floor, set good screens and was in the starting lineup for the Eagles. Saint Edward always plays with impressive poise and seems to make winning plays at the end of games and Hargett played a role in the Eagles comeback victory over Medina.
Murphy knocked down shots from the outside and was a solid complimentary guard for the Titans. Murphy has a high arching shot that looks really pretty when it goes in. If Murphy can expand his game a little and continue to make shots and take control of the basketball, he could be an intriguing small college prospect.
Wilson is another new piece that Richmond Heights added over the off-season and the late blooming forward is starting to bloom. Wilson has a good body with impressive athleticism and made some flash plays with the ball in his hands. Wilson still has a ways to go offensively but could put it on the ground once or twice and get around a defender to finish around the rim. Wilson also contested shots at the rim and is a unique body for Division IV programs to match-up with in the paint during the Spartans state title defense.
Candow was getting busy in the final game of the night, having a nice one on one battle with Kris Smith Kris Smith 6’7″ | PF Cincinnati Taft | 2024 OH from Benedictine. Candow and the Bulldogs got the better of the Bengals as Candow made some impressive crossover moves and a nasty step-back 3-pointer that was posted by 3rdcoast hoops. Candow also broke down the defense off the bounce and got to the rim to either finish or set up a teammate with an open shot.

Hill was the lone freshman who really stood out in my eyes, showing some impressive feel for the game for such a young prospect. Hill knocked down some shots from the outside and the lefty plays with good pace with the ball in his hands. I also was impressed with the reads that Hill made, showing some potential to be a point guard with his passing ability. I expect Hill to be a scholarship prospect, at what level will be determined in the next couple years.
