Maurice Austin Maurice Austin 5'10" | PG Pueblo South | 2024 State CO – Pueblo South
Austin has immediately asserted himself as one of the top players in the state. It all starts with Austin’s three level scoring gravity. The 5’8 guard knows how to leverage his low center of gravity, proving to be more physical than the vast majority of guards. With his elite footwork, Austin is a knockdown shooter from anywhere on the floor. When hot, the point guard can score nonstop for multiple possessions without defensive adjustments. To open up the year, Austin has posted 26.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 steals per game for 4-2 Pueblo South.
Noah Hellem Noah Hellem 5'10" | SG Air Academy | 2024 State CO – Air Academy
Hellem has been especially efficient to open up the season, possessing some of the best conditioning among guards. At roughly 5’10, Hellem makes up for his lack of height with high IQ and very quick shot speed. He proves capable hopping into shots off of movement or from a standstill. The guard is Air Academy guard is dangerous within the fullcourt, oftentimes one of the first down the floor. To open up the season, Hellem has posted 18.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while knocking down 48% of his 40 three point attempts. Hellem is at minimum at valuable contributor to Air Academy’s floor spacing, who have gone 4-2 to start the season.
Gavin Carter – Chaparral
Carter has opened up the season with a electric pace along with improvements to the jump shot. The 6’2 point guard has been a blur within the fullcourt, especially dangerous going coast to coast. Given his relative speed, Carter benefits from slightly more space for three pointers, knocking them down at a high efficiency. So far with Chaparral, Carter has averaged 21.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2 steals per game while knocking down 43% of his three point attempts. Full speed ahead for Carter.
Noah Wilhelm Noah Wilhelm 6'2" | SG Ponderosa | 2024 State CO – Ponderosa
Wilhelm is a valable floor spacer for Ponderosa’s halfcourt offense, especially as he starts to heat up. The 6’2 shooting guard has consistently let the rock fly this season, attempting no less the five threes. Proving to be a threat from all over the arc, Wilhelm has built upon his prior strengthes. So far, the shooting guard has contributed 14.3 points and 3.2 rebounds while hitting 40% of his 48 attempts from beyond.
Brady Kennison Brady Kennison 6'0" | CG Thompson Valley | 2024 State CO – Thompson Valley
Kennison will be an intriguing name throughout the season, due to his progression as a shotmaker with relative size. The Northern Colorado guard has played a big role as a shot creator for Thompson Valley. Kennison is aided by his above average strength for a backcourt player. Through his first five games, Kennison has posted 18.8 points, 3.8 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3.2 steals per game while contributing 45% of his three pointers. Kennison’s offensive potential lies in his progression as a pick and roll playmaker. The guard has shown flashes as a pull up shooter while driving downhill.
