Bennett Fried Bennett Fried 6'6" | SF La Crosse Central | 2023 State WI bounces back
On Friday, La Crosse Central took on Joliet West (a top team in Illinois). In this game, Fried struggled. He scored just six points and only made two field goals. But the bad taste of Friday’s performance didn’t last long. On Saturday, the shooting guard bounced back in a major way. In a blowout win over River Falls, Fried posted 27 points on 11-17 shooting. Overall, I really like Fried’s game. He scores well, defends, and is also a solid rebounder.
Luther Smith Luther Smith 6'1" | SG Sussex Hamilton | 2023 State WI ‘s impressive senior campaign continues
It seems as if Smith just finds a way to be included in almost every article that I write. After his performance on Saturday, Smith certainly deserves the extra exposure. In a win over an Illinois team, Smith was able to score 35 points. He might not be the frontrunner for Wisconsin’s Mr. Basketball award, but the guard is certainly making a solid case for himself. Look out for Smith moving forward. He is sure to impress every time he laces us his shoes.
Nicolet sneaks past Grafton
Nicolet and Grafton are two of the better teams in the state. On Friday, the competed in a razor close contest. In the end, Nicolet was able to walk away with the 91-82 victory. Nicolet got major contributions from Davion Hannah Davion Hannah 6'5" | SF Nicolet | 2025 State #33 Nation WI , Rashad Davis, and David Bolden David Bolden 6'0" | PG Nicolet | 2025 State WI . For Grafton, don’t sleep on this squad. Even though they lost, they still boast a talented roster.
Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI posts efficient 24-point performance
If De Pere is to reach their ultimate goal this March, a lot of pressure will be on the shoulders of Hornseth. So far, the power forward has stepped up and performed well. On Friday night, Hornseth scored 24 points and was almost perfect from the field. He made 10 out of his 11 shot attempts. Hornseth also was able to snag nine boards in a blowout win for De Pere
Arrowhead stays unbeaten
Arrowhead might be the best team in Division One right now. In fact, if I were forced to pick a champion in Wisconsin’s D1 bracket right now, I might go with the Warhawks. This team just checks all the boxes. They have top tier talent, can score at a high level, and also play well as a team. This weekend, Arrowhead moved to 6-0 with wins over Muskego and Oak Creek.
Brookfield Central bests Brookfield East
Brookfield Central and Brookfield East have had some tremendous battles over the years. Both of these schools have produced tremendous talent. The latest chapter of this rivalry was written was Friday night. This time, Brookfield Central proved to be superior. The Lancers earned a close four-point victory.
