Lequae was one of the most explosive athletes I saw all weekend. The unsigned senior was a force in transition, able to jump passing lanes to get out in the open floor before taking flight for a dunk. He has a plus length frame that allows him to play a bit bigger than his 6’1 height, which helps him defend against taller wings. In the half-court he has a shifty handle and can cover a lot of ground in a limited amount of dribbles to create space. Gets plenty of elevation on his shot and was hitting some tough pull-up jumpers all weekend long.
Bryce played alongside two D1 commits during the high school season, so this past weekend was my first time seeing him in a bigger scoring role. The athletic small forward didn’t disappoint. He has solid length and athleticism at his position, able to get out in the open floor for an explosive dunk, and protect the rim defensively. His team doesn’t have a “true big” so Bryce spends time defending the paint while showcasing his driving ability from the wing on offense. Good body control to adjust and finish against size, but can also play off two feet and hit a short turnaround jumper. In the win over Minnesota Select there wasn’t much that Bryce didn’t do.

Zach put together a solid weekend for Minnesota Select , including helping them defeat D1 Minnesota 15u on Friday night. He’s a big time catch-and-shoot threat from beyond the arc, who doesn’t need much space to get his shot off. Zach was at his best floating on the perimeter and making himself available for kickout passes leading to quality attempts from three. Did show some fluid athleticism with the occasional drive to the basket, able to weave between defenders with the ball. He’s someone who’s impressed me both playing at the 15u level last year, and now the 16u level this spring.

Camare is one of those power wings who’s just so difficult to keep away from the basket. He’s always had a strong frame with some size/length, but it’s been his spatial awareness to stay out of big crowds around the rim that has made him much more efficient/effective these past 6 months. He’s gotten much better at kicking it out to his shooters if no gap to the rim is there, but if he has some space he has the combination of handle, footwork, and strength to get to the basket in a number of ways. Brings an additional rebounding presence to the floor as well. Was a nice addition to an already talented Minnesota Select team over the weekend.
Miles had NSIC coaches watching closely all weekend with his Real Phenom team. He’s always been a shooter with length on the wing, bit it’s been his added explosiveness and ability to attack the rim under control that has made him much more dangerous over his junior year. Against an Iowa United team that featured a 7’1 an 6’9 frontcourt duo, and he still found ways to be effective getting to the rim. Showcased a quick spin move when his defender overplayed his right hand, and then had the comfort to extend and finish with his left. Has the physical attributes and lateral mobility to defend scholarship level wings at the next level.

Christian was the most consistent producer for D1 Minnesota in the games I saw at the Twin Cities Takedown, and in the two games I watched this past weekend, that was once again the case. He plays with a maturity well beyond his years, and has the versatile skillset to take anything the defense gives him. Sag off and he can hit the three at a high clip, play him too tight and he’ll get you on his hip and drive all the way to the basket. Always looks so under control when handling the ball. He may be at his best as a defender though, seeming to draw the other team’s best perimeter player each game. Has no problem picking up full-court and moving his feet with guys 4″ shorter than him.

Keegan is a big time shot maker for his Wisconsin Crusaders team. He has a long frame at 6’3, and is a major threat from three and mid-range. Features a high release point on his shot that makes it so difficult to contest when he gets just a bit of space. I saw him go up against a D1 Minnesota team filled with length and athleticism, where he was able to hit some tough contested shots to keep his team within striking distance most of the game.
