Here’s a look at the top small forwards in our updated Sophomore rankings. This does not include any players ranked in the top 10 in the class.
Jordan has all the physical tools to reach the next level as he’s tall with a long wingspan and is a good shot blocker with solid defensive instincts. Mabe is starting to fill out his frame and bulk up. As he does that, he’ll only get more athletic and become a better finisher. His stock continues to trend up.
One of the better pure scorers in the class, Blakeman is a three level scorer and continues to improve his long range shooting. Hayden is a solid athlete as well. The only question mark with his long term potential is how well he can move laterally and keep in front of wings and guards on the perimeter. Look for the big wing to be among the best scorers in Kentucky this season.
If you’re wanting to gamble on long term potential, Elijah Walton Elijah Walton 6'5″ | SF University Heights | 2025 State KY could be the best player on this list to put your money on. Elijah is long and very athletic. His skill level continues to improve and he looks like a future D1 recruit if his game continues to develop this year.
Makhi “Man Man” Smith is a high major D1 athlete whose college future is on the football field but he’s a disruptive force on the basketball court as well. Smith has the ability to lock up defensively and gets downhill on offense. Woodford has a loaded 2025 class and Makhi is a key cog to that machine.
One of the more overlooked players on the list because of geography, Butler is a top 2025 in all of far western Kentucky. Jonah needs to continue to improve his outside shooting but he stuffs the stat sheet with all the ways that he impacts winning for Calloway County. Look for Jonah to have a breakout season this year.
