Conner made shots and defended at a high level. At 6’3 with his understanding of the game in the St Xavier system, Conner looks like a prototypical 3-and-D wing guard for a Division III program. I expect Conner to make big shots all season for the Bombers and gain small college interest in the process.
Smith transferred from North College Hill and has some intriguing physical tools at 6’6. Has a ways to go with production and skills on the ball but Smith plays hard and will only get better next to the stars that Taft can surround him with. I expect Smith to be a late bloomer who plays his best basketball in the next couple of years, a name to track for the future.
A smaller guard, Hutson had his 3-point shot going on Friday afternoon. Hutson has a high arcing shot and when it goes in, looks really pretty through the net. Hutson also broke the defense down off the dribble a few times and made plays for himself and teammates. Hutson plays more of an off guard role next to Brandon Roddy Brandon Roddy 6’1″ | PG Harvest Prep | 2025 State OH , but is capable of running the offense for his team.
Daniels was productive as an energy body, grabbing rebounds and finishing around the basket. The lefty plays hard and was productive against a bigger and more athletic Taft squad. Daniels has the body of a football player and excels on both the gridiron and the hardwood but has the motor and skills to be an all-conference guy starting next season.
Delaware Hayes had the upset of the day taking down Lakota East and Lowman was one of the key reasons for this. Another prospect with a football build, Lowman and Daniels show the importance of working hard in the weight room for basketball players. Lowman worked off the defensive attention that Jesse Burris Jesse Burris 6’4″ | SF Delaware Hayes | 2024 State #297 Nation OH creates and made plays when he was left with space to operate.
Another Pacer makes this list as Piatt-Brown was on fire from long range in this one. Not sure what else Piatt-Brown does right now but his shooting ability was incredibly value in the victory and he has the size to expand his game with his ball handling and physical development. Look for Delaware Hayes to maybe surprise some people in the OCC this season.
Dayton Dunbar was down 20+ points early in the second half and things weren’t looking promising, but a huge second half push allowed the Wolverines to take the lead before finally falling in a thrilling contest. The Dunbar guards were crucial to this comeback and Hill was one of the guys making plays. Hill knocked down some shots from the outside, was quick and looked confident with the ball in his hands. He’s currently just playing a complimentary role but could be the Robin to Bj Hatcher Bj Hatcher 6’1″ | PG Northmont | 2025 State OH once the Allen twins graduate. Hill is a prospect I’ll be keeping tabs on in the future.
