The 2024 class has seen a lot of movement in the rankings in the last year or so and this update is no exception. There are new names in the top 10 as well as our first commitments in the class. Here’s a look at the updated top 10 for the Junior class.
A top 100 recruit nationally, Travis is on his way to being a Kentucky legend as he is on track to shatter the state’s all time scoring record. Perry has racked up a ton of D1 offers from some of the elites and has been taking official visits to powers like Michigan this fall. Look for Perry to continue his momentum with a big Junior season.
Noah moves back into the top two of the class in this update. Trent has put a lot of work in to slim down and get more athletic over the last 6-9 months. His recruiting has taken off as he added 4 D1 offers this fall and has gotten himself on the radar for high major schools like Virginia and Xavier.
The first 2024 commitment in Kentucky, Decker is off the board to Liberty already. Brett has seen his stock take off over the last 18 months and is in the discussion for top player in the Junior class thanks to his elite shooting and big time athleticism. Liberty got a steal by locking Brett in early as he likely would have gotten high major offers if he rode out his 17u AAU season.
King is the first player on the list who is a true pass first point guard. Damone isn’t often looking to force his own offense but he can score when needed. He’s strong and knows how to finish through contact. If his three point shooting becomes more consistent, high major schools are likely to start getting involved with the Manual star by this time next year.
One of the biggest movers of the update, Ritter goes from 21st to 6th and honestly could have been as high as 4th. Mason is on track for a breakout Junior season and has earned his first couple of D1 offers in the last few months. One D1 coach told me that he thinks Mason could be the best prospect in Kentucky’s 24 class when it’s all said and done and predicted him to be a Big Ten type player.
Ayden slips a few spots but that’s more because of other players moving up than him doing anything to cause a slide. Evans is a high potential player who is an excellent rim protector and runs the floor like a deer on offense. His perimeter game has shown flashes at times and as he gets more comfortable, Ayden could become a stretch 4 or faceup 5 at the college level.
One of the best shooters in the class, Unseld picked up his first 2 Division I offers this summer and is likely to have more come his way over the next 9 months. In addition to being a matchup problem for opposing defenses, Kade is a high IQ defender who uses his length to keep quicker players in front. With high academics and big time potential, look for Unseld to keep earning offers.
We would be looking at Drae as the best point guard in any other class in the state but that speaks to the overall depth of this 2024 guard group. Vasser is a smooth scorer who can get buckets at any level and is a skilled passer with the potential to control the game with the ball in his hands. Already holding 3 D1 offers, expect Drae to keep adding to his list.
Jay is maybe the best pure scorer on this list as he is wired to get buckets and can do so against the vast majority of defenders he faces. Rose is a good leaper who can finish above the rim. He’s shown the ability to be a really good passer and needs to continue to refine his shot selection as he can be really efficient when he’s getting to his spots on offense and doesn’t settle. South Alabama has offered and more are likely to follow.
House moves into the top ten and should be mentioned right along with the other two Louisville point guards on the list as he is just as tough and is probably the best of the three at getting into the paint. Quel’ron is shifty and very quick and is an adequate shooter but doesn’t need to shoot many threes to be effective for his team. The transfer to Seneca should force him to create more of his own offense this season. Jacksonville State has offered.
