We were able to get a look at some underclassmen who’ll be contributors on the varsity this season. Starting or coming off the bench. This group of 2025, and 2026 prospects showed themselves ready to be contributors at the varsity level.
Kasen Krueger Kasen Krueger 6'0" | CG Amador valley | 2025 State CA-N 5’11 Guard of Kingdom Basketball Black, Monte Vista HS. 2025
Kreuger starting his second season as a full time starter looks to have found his comfort as a combo guard. He understands the game, and can switch at anytime during the game, depending on the situation. On Saturday he started to find his rhythm shooting 3ptrs from the perimeter on the catch and shoot, and coming up off screens.
Derron White Derron White 5'9" | PG Monterey Trail | 2025 State CA-N 5’10 PG of Trailblazers, Monterey Trail HS. 2025
It was our first look at White. He’s a capable point guard, with good handles and speed. He has good court vision, and passing, while delivering the ball to the first option, and second scoring options on this team. He has good speed with the ball in transition. He has the ability to attack and dish in the paint. He has the quickness to stay on ball, and disrupt at times. He’ll shoot a 3 or hit the short jumper to keep the defense honest. He’ll get quality minutes.
Adrian Devenicia 6’3 SG of Trailblazers, Monterey Trail HS. 2025
Devenicia a no hesitant 3pt shooter when he’s on the court. He started the games we saw. He’ll most likely come off the bench getting good open looks with all the attention this teams two DI prospects will get. Nevertheless he has a good shot from 3 that goes in, and he’s willing to put them up when he gets open looks.
Dre Gomez 6’4 G/F of Pacer Basketball Academy, Grant HS. 2026
We’ve seen Gomez multiple times now, he seems to be settling in as a starter on the varsity. He’s calm and gaining confidence, at a good pace. He has a good set of tools to with work, and some Seniors who’ll relieve some of the pressure on him. He does well in transition handling, and finishing at the rim. The lefty’s got that slight shoulder dip he leads with to get a bucket, and keep him on balance without picking up charges. He’s a good finisher around the basket, he’ll shoot his jump shot if open.
Nathan Hibbert 6’6 W/F of Family First, Vanden HS. 2026
It’s hard to know how much playing time Hibbert will get with this talented deep squad. We know he’s got good size, he moves pretty well going up and down the court. He wants to make his presence felt when he enters the game. He has good range, and will put up shots behind the 3pt line, he handles a bit in the open court. He’ll be looked at again as an incoming Freshman.
