Mateen finished with 17 points and 3 threes in Weston Ranch’s (CA) win over West Ranch (CA) 74-60. Rafiq provides a very steady presence for the Grizzlies at point guard, rarely turns the ball over, and always knows what space to fill on offense. He is also one of the best shooters in the history of California high school basketball and added 3 threes to his total tonight giving him 18 total for the Tarkanian Classic across 3 games.

He’s been sidelined for five weeks with a concussion, that didn’t stop one of NorCal’s top 3pt shooters from taking matters into his own hands down the stretch of the title game. He made 16-3pointers in three games, 8 in the title game as he and his teammates wouldn’t go down easy. A couple of those 3’s were from NBA range. He’s a transfer from El Camino to Weston Ranch.

Pure PG with exceptional Floor General skills. He’s heady, controls the pace and understands how to find people. His best skill is probably his leadership, however his shooting and handling ability were strong today.

He fits well with his new team in their uptempo style. He’s a tough minded guard with speed to push, handle, and pass it up. He can settle a team in the half-court, he has court vision and makes good decisions with the ball. He can handle contact on the drive and he’s a knockdown 3pt shooter in transition or setting up along the perimeter.

One of NorCal’s most consistent prospects in the 2024 class. He’s a multi-skilled prospect who can carry the scoring load, run the teams offense, and get a bucket in the crunch. He’s a conditioned player that rarely comes out of the game. His 31pts, 7rebs, and 3stls were key in holding on to victory.
