We’re only a few weeks away from the high school season officially starting with practices opening up on October 1st. To get you ready for the upcoming season, we’re updating all of our rankings on Prep Hoops Oklahoma. This week, it’s all about the 2025 class as we released our Top 45 Sophomores on Monday. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on four prospects that are newcomers to the recent rankings. Stay tuned to Prep Hoops Oklahoma throughout the week for more prospect breakdowns. And stay tuned throughout the rest of the month for more ranking updates!
Dakotah Terrell Dakotah Terrell 6'8" | C Pocola | 2025 State #335 Nation OK – Forward – Pocola
One of the highest ranked newcomers in the recent ranking update was Pocola forward Dakotah Terrell Dakotah Terrell 6'8" | C Pocola | 2025 State #335 Nation OK . This part of the ranking process is always the most frustrating. Our last update was in June and literally right after the ranking came out, within two weeks we caught Terrell in person at one of the team camps. It was apparent immediately that not only did he belong, but he deserved to be relatively high up there. Pocola is going to be an interesting team to watch moving forward because they have some legitimate talent coming back and with Terrell continuing to develop as a forward, they’ll be a fun small school to watch. Terrell is still growing and at the high school level, he’s going to be a mismatch in the paint in almost every game. He has a nice touch around the basket and he has some serious energy with his game. We’re looking forward to seeing more of him and how other parts of his game develop.
Jake Weaver Jake Weaver 6'10" | C Edmond North | 2025 State OK – Center – Edmond North
Pocola’s Terrell isn’t the only big man on the newcomer breakdown as Jake Weaver Jake Weaver 6'10" | C Edmond North | 2025 State OK has emerged as an interesting prospect moving forward. He spent his freshman season at Stillwater and has transferred to Edmond North, joining an already stacked Husky team that is coming off a state championship in Class 6A. Weaver’s role with the Huskies will be interesting to watch but he definitely brings something to the table for them to use this winter. We caught Weaver at several Prep Hoops events throughout the spring and summer. The touch he has around the basket is very impressive for his age and as he continues to develop other aspects of his offensive game outside of the paint, he should be a big man name to follow throughout the next three years. Like Terrell, Weaver is going to be a mismatch problem in a lot of games because of his size. There’s still room for improvement but this 2025 class is very guard-heavy and Weaver provides some size.
Jyson Kim Jyson Kim 6'4" | SG Cascia Hall Preparatory School | 2025 State OK – Guard – Cascia Hall
Cascia Hall has several young prospects that we like moving forward and one that we’ve seen quite a bit of in the last year is Jyson Kim Jyson Kim 6'4" | SG Cascia Hall Preparatory School | 2025 State OK . In fact, the first time we saw him in person was around this time last year and we saw him again this summer. That gave us nearly 12 months to work with and the jump he’s made as a guard and an overall athlete is something to keep in mind with him moving forward. If he can continue progressing at the rate that he currently is on, he’s going to be a big time playmaker in this 2025 class. Kim is an athletic guard that can absolutely fill it up. As far as the very athletic guards go in this class, he’s one of the more consistent shooters from beyond the arc. But you can’t categorize him as just a shooter because he can put the ball on the floor and get anywhere he wants to go and he can also create for his teammates around him. Cascia Hall has a very bright future for the next few seasons and moving forward.
Sutton Woods Sutton Woods 6'4" | SG Catoosa | 2025 State OK – Guard – Catoosa
Our final player is another guard that has had a really strong summer. And another guard that has proven to be one of the better shooters in this class with that production this summer. While playing for the Tulsa Hawks, Woods made it a common occurrence to knock down at least five shots from the perimeter and he has the chance to continue rising up the ranks in terms of shooters within this class. We got a chance to check out some film on Woods from this summer and the shooting is without a doubt the first thing that jumps off the tape. But then you watch the other skills that he has on offense and he’s very methodical with the ball and takes care of it. As he becomes more comfortable making those moves and improves the quickness and overall speed of his drives and other skills on the offensive side of the ball, we think that he could be a sleeper prospect within this class moving forward.
