The big man is perfect for physical and tough contests like Saturday night’s match up with Memorial. Knows how to eat up space around the rim, to be a deterrent at the basket and crash the glass. Had a huge tip in late in the contest that gave the Huskies vital breathing room. Change of pace, old school big man who gives North the ability to switch up looks with strong spurts of interior impact.

The back to back 6A champions remain one of the deepest teams in the state and Weaver is a great example of that depth. The tall junior got a chance at extended run on Monday, and proceeded to be exceptionally productive around the basket. His size allows him to carve out space for rebounds on both ends of the court. That same size when paired with his soft touch at the basket on the offensive end, had him feasting on second chance opportunities. While basketball has gotten faster and smaller, there is still some room for throwback bigs, and if Weaver keeps progressing he could become a change of pace post player to modern “small ball”.

The big man for Team Griffin Select 16U has a good amount of skill and feel for a player his size. Those traits are shown with quick hands on the defensive end, swiping for steals and blocks. While also being a good passer on offense. Weaver had a mixture of quality outlet passes, while also setting up in the high post in the half court. Where he fed cutters and open teammates with great passes.
