Quick off the dribble, the lead guard from eastern Oklahoma excels not only at creating shots for himself but also setting up teammates. His athleticism is apparent the most when he’s able to get downhill. Where he has a great balance of knowing when to pull up to hit from the midrange or slashing to the rim where his body control allows him to finish efficiently in traffic. After June viewings at Oral Roberts and UCO team camps in June, Scott is a priority watch when Pocola competes against big school competition at the Mustang Holiday Classic in late December.
Highlights
After averaging 20 a game as a sophomore, Schilreff proceeded to have a strong spring and summer with Oklahoma Impact 4:13. He even finished out July playing for their 17U team. While he can fill it up from deep, he’s a balanced small town guard that impacts the game in all facets. One of his better traits is the control and the strength he plays with when attacking. He plays at his own pace and rarely looks bother by pressure defense when finishing at the rim. Class 4A is deep at the top, but with a dynamic scorer like Schilreff, Byng could be a darkhorse that could make some noise.
Miller fits the profile of modern stretch/hybrid forwards with good size mixed with a shooting touch that extends beyond the three point arc. After excelling as a catch and shoot option as a sophomore, Miller had good signs of expand his overall game (finishing at the rim and midrange) this spring and summer. With a good combination of size and skill traits, the Class 4A forward continues to expand his floor game, he has a chance to make serious noise for Catoosa this winter.
Highlights
Another rangy shooter from Class 4A in Eastern Oklahoma, at a recent showcase viewing Welch caught the eye with his combination of shooting, size and movement. He’s best right now as a catch and shoot specialist with his smooth shooting form. But there is upside as the wing showed promise to more often “play to size” with drives, finishes and battling around the rim.
Highlights
One of the more exciting small town players to watch, Gore is now at 2A Preston after a very strong sophomore campaign at Okmulgee. When watching Gore play travel ball in the spring and summer, he backed up the quickness and explosion he flashed on game film. While a strong scoring threat himself, he’s also a crafty creator for others with great vision and touch on his passes.
