When Scott turns on the jets in transition, defenders can wave goodbye. A similar thing happened to the game during a fourth quarter run, often fueled by the speedy Scott. He turned a closely contested battle in a comfortable Pocola victory. He finished with a game high 29 points. His relentless driving was a highlight of his scoring, but the lefty does have microwave abilities from beyond the arc, hitting three in the contest.

. The senior lead guard is a blur end to end and a microwave shooter off the bounce. He’s now averaging 19 on the year, while the Indians rack up double digit wins with ease. Including a 30 point win over Kingston in the semifinals of the Kingston tournament, then a 23 point win over Marlow. Scott was awarded MVP honors and looks to have his squad ready for a second straight trip to the Big House.

A blur with the ball in his hands, Scott is an uptempo lead guard who is always an one man fast break threat. He has continued to develop into leveraging his speed demon ways into changing pace, which often allows him to create space as an off the dribble shooter. The senior helped Pocola to a Class 2A semifinals appearance and will likely have his squad at the State Tournament in March, hoping to play potential spoiler against the current two time defending Class 2A champions, Dale.

The tempo the eastern Oklahoma standout plays with has never been a disappointment. And that was true today as the speedy guard excelled in the end to end play of the camp setting. Along with constantly finding his way into the paint, he shot it at a good clip from beyond the arc. Especially as an off the dribble weapon.
An added plus to his game for college coaches, he has experience playing with bigs and knows how to get them involved. In the first game today, he made to sure to feed his post players, while also throughout the camp showed good chemistry with them in ball screen situations.
Scott, also a standout in football, will likely have his choice of regional small college programs in both basketball and football.

The fast paced guard made a killing in transition. But it was more than just racing past defenders, it was making correct reads as a passer. And also pulling up and hitting in the mid-range. Just a few months ago it felt like Scott always played at one speed, now he has better transition decision making and more patience in the halfcourt.

Pocola two-sport star Garrett Scott might be getting the benefit of us recently seeing him in person earlier this month as he’s made a big jump up the rankings and is knocking on the door of the top ten. But it’s really hard to ignore what we saw with the very athletic playmaker that has an incredibly long wingspan. In the game that we watched, Scott could not miss from beyond the arc and if he starts shooting at a consistent clip from three point range, he’s going to continue climbing up the rankings. Athletically, Scott reminds us a lot of Mustang standout

and like Johnson, he might have a higher ceiling playing football but he has been really impressive on the court this year.

Arguably Pocola’s best player this season has been junior guard Garrett Scott and he showed why on Saturday in the overtime loss to Catoosa. Scott would score a game-high 31 points and would knock down seven shots from beyond the perimeter, including five in the fourth quarter alone. And we don’t have the exact efficiency numbers for Scott but it felt like every shot he took from beyond the arc was going in. Scott wasn’t just a shooter on Saturday, he can also get downhill to the basket and finish. Scott is one of the better two-sport athletes in the state’s 2024 class. He’s also a standout on the football field and it’s easy to see why based on his athleticism on the basketball court. One physical attribute with Scott that stood out was his wingspan. When you combine that with his overall athleticism and defensive abilities, Scott has the ability to be one of the better defensive guards in the state’s class. His size and abilities on the court are reminiscent of Mustang 2023 standout

One of the top overall players in attendance, Scott is an impressive athlete with his quickness and ability to create space for his own shot. But he does not limit his attacking to just getting his. He displayed true point guard tendencies with a great understanding of spacing and where his teammates are. There were multiple times he drove or misdirected with his eyes, in order to set up teammates with high quality looks.
