Hansen is one of the most dependable shooters in the state while standing roughly 5’11. The incoming junior combo guard is more than capable hitting shots out to NCAA range, whether off the catch or from a dribble move. Hansen is not just a shooter either, where he led Ralston Valley in assists per game last season at 3.6 per contest. At his size, Jansen is great probing along the baseline or from attacking the wings, where he is capable passing it with either hand. The standout skill with Hansen is oddly enough not the shooting, but defensive acumen. While not boasting elite height, Hansen is terrific laterally while proving to stick with anybody like glue.
Cole Scherer Cole Scherer 6'2" | PG Valor Christian | 2025 State CO – Valor Christian – 2025
Scherer will be a steady contributor for the coming years as the fourth ranked prospect and top point guard in his class. At roughly 6’1, he possesses wiry strength and an above average burst from the first step. Once downhill, Scherer is fearless attacking the rim with either hand. Another area of intrigue resides in the jump shot, who is more than respectable both off the catch and dribble. One area I will be looking for resides in his halfcourt patience and decision making under aggressive help defense.
James Murray IV James Murray IV 6'6" | CG Denver East | 2025 State CO – Fountain Fort Carson – 2025
Murray currently sits as the seventh overall and top combo guard in the 2025 Colorado class. At roughly 6’5, Murray brings a high upside skillset consisting of accurate live dribble passing, off the dribble shooting, and high level on-ball defense. Murray’s first step is a bit too quick for most defenders his size while his height is often too much to handle for guards quick enough to match up. Once the incoming sophomore gets dribble penetration, he does well keeping his eyes up to read to defense. Arguably the biggest x-factor with Murray resides in what level the shot becomes off the dribble.
Luke Justice Luke Justice 6'1" | SG Frederick | 2023 State CO – Frederick – 2023
Justice has an incredibly smooth playstyle and possesses a knock down jumper from anywhere. Simply put, the combo guard is crafty. While being especially potent as a shooter off the catch, the incoming senior guard makes a living inside the arc. The southpaw does great changing speeds, especially when coming off screens with the defender on his hip. When given the advantage, Justice has a large toolbox at his disposal. He is more than capable using side steps, floaters, and crossovers as a means to create space. Two areas I will be monitoring with Justice revolves around his ability to draw fouls and passing numbers at Frederick.
Madden Smiley Madden Smiley 6'2" | CG Windsor | 2026 State CO – Windsor – 2026
Smiley is going to be a common name through the state due to his high feel for game in combination with excellent size for his age. Standing roughly 6’2, the combo guard is a strong driver coming off either foot. It was clear Smiley had played up this summer, given his patience and minimal turnovers versus older talent.
