The individuals identified in this piece can all certainly score, but they all did other things that made a difference for their respective teams.
Blake Reed Blake Reed 5'10" | PG Mason County | 2024 KY – 10th Region, Bracken County (Sophomore) – 5’10”
Reed is widely regarded throughout the 10th Region as one of the best combo guards. Here’s to hoping he starts garnering more attention throughout the rest of the state. Reed is one of the top scorers in the state at +27 points per game. He is a persistent player that isn’t deterred from contact or shot-blockers. His best game came in the quarterfinal against Harlan where Reed knocked down 4 3-pointers and finished with 31 points
Brian Griffith Brian Griffith 5'9" | PG Owensboro Catholic | 2023 State KY – 3rd Region, Owensboro Catholic (Junior) – 5’10”
The Aces are at their best when Griffith is creating plays for his team. Griffith leads a guard-heavy roster that relies on him to consistently generate the offense. He is a shifty guard that plays balanced with the ball in his hands or playing off screens. His breakout game came in the opening round against the pesky Pikeville Panthers. Griffith finished with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Cayden Reed Cayden Reed 5'9" | PG Mason County | 2025 KY – 10th Region, Bracken County (Freshman) – 5’9”
The offensive scouting report concepts on Reed are easier said than done. He has the type of confidence that he believes he can knock down a shot from anywhere on the court. And, for the most part, he is right! Teams in the district and region matchups might need to consider guarding him full-court or throwing multiple defenders to bump him off his rhythm. Reed has enough tricks in his bag that he would win most 1-on-1 games on any court. His breakout game came against Walton-Verona where he finished with 24 points and 7 steals.
Jackson Bond – 16th Region, West Carter (Senior) – 5’11”
Bond is a nimble guard that has a quick shot release. The Comets primarily play at a mild pace relying on their half-court offense to churn out points. Bond is the best shooter on the team averaging +2 3-point baskets per game. His breakout game came against Todd County Central where he finished with 21 points and 7 rebounds.
Javier Ward Javier Ward 5'11" | CG Holy Cross | 2023 State KY – 9th Region, Covington Holy Cross (Junior) – 5’8”
Ward is a sensational, springy guard that should be at the top of your scouting report. Playing alongside another phenomenal scorer, Jacob Meyer Jacob Meyer 6'2" | PG Holy Cross Covington | 2023 #170 Nation GA , Ward feasts off defenders that get distracted watching the ball. He can score at every level and is mastering the high tear-drop floater. Ward works hard on both ends of the court and has the ability to score in a hurry. Coming off a season-high 40 points on January 24, his breakout game came in the opening round against Sayre where he scored 18 points in the first half on his way to 27 total.
