Now that the calendar has turned from 2018 to 2019 and teams have entered conference play, let’s take a look at the players who are the 21st- through 25th-leading scorers in Colorado’s Class 5A and how they’re doing it.
21. Aaron Bokol, 6-5, W, Eaglecrest, 2019, 17.8 ppg
The Raptors know they can pretty much pencil in Bokol for between 15 and 20 points, and about six rebounds, a night. His 3-point shooting has really picked up second the new year started and he’s 44 percent (7 for 16) from long range in his last three games.
22. Mark Dolan, 6-2, G, Fairview, 2019, 17.7 ppg
The Knights sharpshooter led Fairview in scoring last season largely because of his 3-point shooting ability. So far in 2018-19, Dolan is shooting 40 percent (30 for 75) from long range, the same as last season, and is a top-25 scorer in Class 5A.
23. Andre Sepeda, 5-8, G, Greeley West, 2019, 17.7 ppg
Quick and crafty, Sepeda sees the floor and does an excellent job of setting up teammates with his passing. The Spartans senior is also shooting 40 percent from behind the 3-point line and has a natural talent for finishing around the hoop by contorting his body in order to avoid taller defenders.
24. Grant Wilkinson, 6-2, G, Pine Creek, 2019, 17.6 ppg
The leading scorer for the Eagles, Wilkinson does a lot more for his team that simply put the ball in the basket. He also averages 7.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.2 steals per game.
25. Ben Grusing, 6-2, G, Mountain Vista, 2019, 17.5 ppg
Yet another player on this list that brings a lot more than just scoring to his team. On top of his 17.5 points, Grusing also averages 3.3 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Grusing attacks the rim with the best of them and uses his natural athletic ability to impact games in a number of ways.
