Shields is a name who can handle the pressure of opposing defenses, a dependable playmaker with the ball. Although not flashy, he is deliberate in the halfcourt, looking to attack openings. What allowed the guard routine openings was from his sharpshooting, hitting 39% of threes last year while remaining a valuable floor spacer throughout this past summer. Shields brings a strong frame along the wing, adept at matching up 1 through 3 from this recent event. He got up plenty of good looks within the offensive flow, following handoffs or cuts to get openings against a lackluster defense. Repeatedly finishing layups through contact, the guard was about as consistent as anyone for Fossil Ridge at this event.

Shields stays active attacking immediately off the catch, either for straight line drives or three point attempts. His wide reach allows the junior to finish around contests with extended arm finishes and finger rolls. While attacking the rim, Shields showed excellent vision making kick outs just when the weak side collapse occurred or a bounce pass for a slasher. They bring an efficient style of play without extra fluff.

His explosive first step and low downhill attack consistently led him into the lane, showing an ability to get to the basket smoothly and easily. His slashing mentality and quickness made him a challenging matchup for defenders throughout the weekend.
