Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Pietras first caught our attention back in May, and what I liked most was that the same things showed up again when we got another look. He looks comfortable playing off the ball, gets his feet set quickly and is ready to shoot before the catch, which gives him real value as a floor spacer. He also showed he can score through traffic and find points when the jumper isn’t the only option. That consistency is why he’s worth tracking. As he heads into high school, I want to see him keep adding to the handle and become more comfortable creating against pressure. There’s a solid shooting guard tools here, and another year of growth could make him a much more complete scorer.I’m curious to see how his game evolves but I’m excited about what he could be. He’s now on the watch list.

Pietras stood out because of how comfortable he looked out there. He showed that he could be a reliable shot maker, and he rattled off a few clean looks at the showcase. He got his feet underneath him quickly, was ready before the ball arrived, and didn’t need much extra time to get the shot up. It wasn’t only the 3-point shot that impressed me, either. He also finished in traffic and made plays inside with others around him, and found other ways to score. Solid SG to keep eyes on.

Pietras showed flashes for State 38 and is a player who I expect to just continue getting better every single time that we see him. He flashed an interesting combination of size and knowing how to use it to his advantage, running the floor on a fast-paced team that wants to get to the basket and spacing. He contests shots, he grabs boards in bunches, and goes right up and lets the offense come to him. We want to see him take over those moments as his skill and size can be a weapon. The tools are there, and when it all starts coming together, it’s going to be a very solid prospect. He makes the list.

Pietras showcased a versatile skill set that allowed him to impact the game on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he stood out with his ability to guard on the perimeter, using his length effectively to contest shots and even come away with blocks in space. His mobility for his size made him a valuable defender in multiple situations. Offensively, Pietras demonstrated his ability to stretch the floor by knocking down shots from beyond the arc, forcing defenders to step out and respect his range. He also remained active on the offensive glass, creating second chance opportunities for his team. His combination of length, mobility and perimeter shooting makes him a unique and effective frontcourt presence.
