Williams was consistent throughout and made the winning plays in the second overtime. It started with a putback to open the frame. Then a few possessions later it with it still a two point game, he pump fake a three, took a dribble and drained a 18 footer with ease. In the final minute, he grabbed a contested rebound. He proceeded to calmly drain a pair of free throws that would effectively ice the game for Mount Saint Mary. It was a physical contest and Williams rose to the occasion throughout. His willingness to rebound and mix it up around the rim was huge in anchoring the Rockets’ regional championship. It also showed the growth in winning basketball that the talented wing has made over the last few months.

The perimeter evolution continues for Williams, which is made more impressive by the fact that he’s pushing 6 foot 7 in height. Looks more comfortable and direct when driving and attacking. Has a bit more fluidity with his spin moves and other turns around the hoop. Turned into the go to man for the Rockets down the stretch of a tough game. Had impressive finishing even through contact for “And 1s.” Liked how Mount Saint Mary put him in better position to go and attack closer to the hoop and mid-range. Williams will be a problem for many teams come playoff time.

Williams had good moments in both opening games, but Saturday was his most complete performance of the tournament. What’s interesting is how it started. The physically gifted forward got on the offensive glass with a couple putbacks. Then a powerful block on defense. From that point forward, his confidence was flowing and he looked the part of a difference maker. Tough scores around the rim, draining spot up threes and playing with great energy.
An extremely talented prospect, with high potential. There’s signs of him growing his game with better handles, reading the floor better and developing guard skills needed to be a next level wing. But Saturday’s game was an important reminder that his path to success is blending his improving perimeter skills with his physical gifts and advantages at the rim.

Williams is fresh off a super productive sophomore season and is now looking to help his new school reach new levels. His ability as a driver and shooter are established now. He’s starting to refine his skills and turn from more of a wing into a big guard. His potential as a ball handler should see him flourish this yea. Especially if he improves his ability to read the floor. As a sophomore, it felt like he was focused only on scoring once he got the ball. Adding a bit of toughness, which he did fight for a jumpball, and better feel as a creator will do wonders for Williams to reach his sky high ceiling.

Usually it’s the football vs basketball long term debates for high upside, multi-sport prospects like Williams. In this case, it’s basketball vs baseball. As a basketball prospect, Williams is very intriguing. Especially as his production spiked as a sophomore. He’s a 3/4 hybrid forward, who can shoot it well enough that he must be accounted for out to the three point line. While also being capable of attacking open lanes, with highlight reel slams. Clearly has the potential to be a next level basketball prospect if that’s the path he chooses. But even if baseball is his future, he’ll be a key part of an exciting MSM team that will have the chance to make noise in Class 4A.

Promising wing-forward prospect, who shot it very well in catch and shoot opportunities. When his feet are set and he’s open, his form and release are very smooth, leading to accurate shots with good rotation. Still working on becoming smoother when shooting off the bounce. Good finishing around the basket when cutting to the rim, or given a clear lane to attack and finish explosively. Needs to continue to work on his lateral movement to be more agile with the ball to be more of a true wing. Right now plays like a very good stretch four, with the upside for more if he choses basketball (also a very high level baseball prospect).

As a dual sport star (baseball), he was only with Heritage Hall for one day of the event. But just like his frame and height, his impact was large. He’s already a physical presence (which at times he needs to embrace that more), who did good work as a roll man in pick and roll situations. And even hit in the mid-range. The Chargers have an exciting young core, which will likely come with growing pains given the youthful guards. But the impact that Williams can be will be crucial as Heritage Hall aims to make their first State Tournament run since 2022.
