Games Watched: Mustang Holiday Classic, John NoblesrnGuerrero is another prospect that will likely find his way onto a college roster thanks to this ability to stretch defenses and change games with a flurry of threes. Along with having to always be accounted for from beyond the arc, Guerrero has expanded his off the dribble game with improved floaters and an “Euro Step” to compliment his stout and physical build on drives. Also because of his strong build and physical nature, he can defend a little bigger than his listed height.

After a slow start in the opener, Southmoore’s senior leader turned it on to help the Sabercats lead them to back to back wins over Class 6A foes. In those two victories, Guerrero averaged 17.5 points per game, going 4-7 from beyond the arc in both. Always a strong spot up threat, Guerrero showed his range extended to a few feet beyond the line, and had moments of looking better when putting the ball on the floor to score himself or create for teammates.

As a team, Southmoore went 10-17 from beyond the arc in their morning victory. Leading the charge was the senior sharpshooter with a 4-7 performance on his own from deep. The spark-plug senior has excelled as a spot up threat, which was again true today, but he also continued his development with a couple off the dribble threes as well. To further prove his credentials as one of the most efficient shooters in Oklahoma, Guerrero also went 7-7 from the line. He finished with 21 points, to go along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

was one of the top performers of the day. He was all over the court on offense and defense and was a big reason why the Sabercats rallied to get the win. On offense, Guerrero showed a complete game with shooting, driving to the basket and passing and getting teammates involved. Then on the defensive side of the ball, he created or forced several turnovers that led to easy buckets for the Sabercats. Guerrero played for ROUGE in the offseason and that team had a lot of success. You can tell that it’s made him a better player and leader early on this season.
