Expert Analysis
Sam Duren | Prep Hoops Scout
Ankrah has some of the best highlights in the state, because he clearly prides himself on his ability to score. There’s definitely walking bucket potential. He has a tight handle, hesitation movies and more to pull off the dribble in the mid-range or from three. Has good burst when it comes to getting downhill or rising up to finish with authority in transition. The flashy scoring is there, but the wins haven’t quite followed. A playoff push with Ankrah leading the way would show that his scoring is now impactful. Especially as he gears for a EYCL national schedule.

Ankrah was streaky as a shooter in the scrimmages watched. Got it going a bit after getting active in the mid-range, displaying his microwave type ability to swing games when he’s hot from deep. Was very focused on scoring, but did make a nice heads up feed in transition. Making good use of his vision and passing would be a good way to improve his efficiency. This is a big junior year for the talented iso scorer. He’s impressed in spurts in the varsity level, but now will carry a bigger scoring role at his new school. Finding consistency and efficiency in his production will be crucial for Ankrah and the Lions

Ankrah is a bucket getter, including a recent game he poured in 29 down in Texas. Has a consistent mid-range stepback, giving him true three level scoring potential. Rained in deep threes, and even opened the highlights with a nice transition slam. The scoring upside for Ankrah has been obvious since he started to earn minutes for Southmoore as a freshman. Now will be looking to establish himself as one of Oklahoma’s elite scorers at his new school, Moore. Signs point to that being possible with these clips.

It’s simple, Ankrah is a bucket. In the clips he shows off his ability to use ball screens to get the match up he wants and then toy with bigs. Or even just quickly pull off the dribble against opposing guards. Scoring can never be underestimated and there’s been a lot of signs that after his first two years of high school; Ankrah is only starting to scratch the surface of a deep and complete scoring bag. There’s some times he can dance on the ball a bit. But a lot of his scoring still comes in translatable ways, including with outstanding touch around the rim.

The bounce is continuing to come in for the skilled now sophomore guard. When given a clean runway, he’s now starting to put on an above the rim show. Which is a great compliment to the pace and skill he plays with. Especially as he now has more hang time to his finishing ability, giving him even more opportunities to hit tough shots off the dribble/drives. And if opponents do play off to anticipate against his driving or creation abilities, he can make it rain from three. As he did in the second 5 on 5 contest. One of the better sophomores in the state, looks ready to be a key part of one of the best backcourts in 6A, for the Sabercats.

is a versatile guard who can score efficiently from all three levels and does a great job of operating out of pick-and-rolls. His ability to set the table for others should shine this weekend as he enters The Expo as one of the best playmakers set to attend.

Showed steady growth throughout high school season, with advanced feel for a younger guard. Plays with good pace coming off ball screens and as an attacker in general. Good balance between looking for his own shot and getting teammates involved. Calling card appears to be as a scorer complete with three level potential considering the flashes of athleticism he shows. Should form one of the better 1-2 scoring punches in 6A next winter for a Sabercats team with youthful upside.

Joining Howell in forming a dynamic backcourt punch for JL3, Ankrah is continuing to come on strong after finishing his freshman campaign well for Southmoore. What stands out is the attention of detail he must into his craft as a ballhandler and decision maker. When comparing to the next level, he’s not a lightning quick or a jawdropping athlete. But Ankrah has the suddenness and handles to get about anywhere he wants to on the court. And he has a fluidness to his movements to quickly rise into pull up jumpers, which have the “every shot looks like it’s going in” feel to them. Skill tends to win out long term for guards in modern basketball, making the Sabercat a very interesting prospect to follow.

The sticking point with the freshman is how smooth he looks with the ball in his hands. There’s very little wasted motion in his movements in the mid-range, as he drilled baseline jumpers and hit from around the free throw line as well. It looks like he’s going to develop into a glider type athlete, who’s able to avoid contact when getting to his spots. Ankrah also has great shot selection for a youngster, as he was fine starting the game in a spot up role from three. Then grew into attacking in the mid-range as his confidence grew.

Ankrah makes this list as a strong shooter, while also already showing good flashes on the ball. Especially as he appears to have quickly adjusted to the speed of the 6A level, and doesn’t look to just score when he does attack. He’s already a good decision maker, with good vision when it comes to finding his open teammates. With his deep range and the young talent the Sabercats have in their 2026 and 2027 classes, Ankrah and his teammates will have lots of opportunity to make noises over the upcoming seasons. And perhaps even be ahead of schedule and shake up Class 6A with the quality sharpshooting they have across the board.
