Jasper is a kid that showed up day in and night out to every single game he had. I mentioned his name at every event I scouted him at. He showcased that he could hold a large role in the paint for his Oklahoma Chaos team while his teammates battled injuries. He’s the type of player that does everything right and even more on top.

Standing at 6’4, he’s able to stretch the floor with ease. He excels at creating opportunities outside the arc, from the mid-range, and inside the paint. Chaves is always moving around the floor looking to make something happen for his guys. He’s got some crafty moves to get past defenders, excellent coordination for catching the alley-oop, and a tough grit that allows him to grab countless boards. He will be a major piece to his Southmoore squad as they look to go back to the State Tournament and hunt the gold ball.

Chaves has always excelled as an example of a player who knows his strengths, and plays to them. He’s a bouncy, quick twitch athlete, with long arms. Allowing him to play much taller than his height around the rim. Leading to valuable rebounds and big time highlights with alley oops.

The defensive end is where his mindset and gifts really shine. Capable of covering multiple positions, he can hound guards and battle against taller wings and forwards. Long term, shooting improvement will be a key. But his athletic profile and high motor playing style makes him a player who likely is undervalued for the sheer impact he brings to both ends of the floor.

Chaves is a great combo of athleticism and motor. One second he’ll be seen battling for for a putback. The next, with a chase down block. Offensively he’s a vertical threat around the rim and can attack open gaps with quick and athletic drives. He had a very productive junior season taking multiple steps forward. In this game, he went for 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. While there are raw aspects to his game; his combination of production, motor and athleticism are usually good traits to bet on long term.

Chaves is really starting to come into his own as an athletic and electric prospect. Plays much bigger than his size thanks to his ability to quickly get off the floor. Especially with his plus wingspan. While still most effective as an energy, transition runner and off the ball cutter, he does look to be improving skill wise. Capable shooter and can put it on the floor as a driver. Given the talented guards that he’s playing with, his above the rim ability could make him one of the most exciting players to watch in Oklahoma.

A high flying, twitchy athlete. Finishes like a taller player with the way he explodes off the ground for dunks and acrobatic finishes. Is improving his ball handling, could develop into a dynamic slashing wing. Is likely a versatile defensive weapon for the Sabercats this year. As he’s quick and agile enough to make life miserable for opposing guards. While his aforementioned physical traits will allow to protect the rim and battle with forwards.

Bouncy forward that is fitting into and staring in a role. Connected on a pair of big corner threes during a second half rally. A consistent jumper would be a great sign of the evolution to his game. Gets great elevation on rebounds and contesting shots, will surely turn into a high flying lob threat with the guards Southmoore has.
