Folsom has been off to a strong start with Oklahoma Chaos 17U, following up a season in which he proved to be in the elite tier of point guards within the state of Oklahoma. Joey began April with strong performances at the PRO16 League. He continues to play with exceptional pace and sets up teammates well with both his court vision and creative passing. Look for Folsom to continue to take steps as a creator and tough shot-maker to go with his playmaking and ball handling.

stole the show with his clutch play, however, Folsom played steady as he has all season. Continuing to run the show on offense and provide intensity on the defensive end of the floor. The junior navigated traffic on multiple occasions. On the other end of the floor, he provided a lot of resistance and ball pressure in the low scoring affair. While the game was won in overtime, Joey produced a big defensive stand at the end of regulation that proved to be a major moment in the game.

All action Folsom finds a way to get his hands on an insane amount of passes. Which often lead to easy points for himself and teammates. Including a fantastic no look, behind the back assist he recorded in the first half. Has a bit of showtime and unselfish play style in transition. Which could be promising in giving him potential to develop his floor general abilities down the road. Also shot it well from deep in the Monday night win. A momentum shifting player.

Can’t have this list without Mr Energy. “Joey Ball” has shaken off a summer injury and now will have the opportunity to refine his all action playing style under coach Jesse Brown. Before Brown took over Newcastle, he was a key assistant during a run at Putnam City West where they specialized in hard nosed guards. The blue collar coaching mentality has also been applied at Newcastle, where Folsom’s energy should be a natural fit. While scoring and shooting should improve this year, it’s important he never forgets his foundation as a tenacious defender.

“Joey Ball” has been known for his energetic, defensive minded playing style. Which for his first two varsity years, made him a fun “star in his role” style player in the 405. There’s been good signs on offense, but to further his next level potential he needs to become more consistent on that end of the floor.
Promisingly, he often had it going in the mid-range at the Expo. While also serving up some fun assists in transition. There will still some mistakes, likely a factor of rust that comes with him recently recovering from injury. But hopefully September is a building block in the right direction as Folsom prepares to go Gold Ball chasing with his new high school, Newcastle.

Known for his energy and defense, Folsom looks to have been working on his offensive game. With clips of him crossing over opponents, pull up threes and mid-range stepbacks. They are good signs as those are the steps “Joey Ball” must continue to take to go from his role as a hustle/defensive underclassman, to a complete upperclassman guard. Especially as his perimeter shooting was streaky as a sophomore. But the mechanics are there for him to be a reliable weapon. And he’s clearly getting the games reps this spring to make that jump.
Oh and the defense is still there. How many tapes have forced five second counts? Reading the passing lane to deny to a pass, then crashing down to force a turnover. Along with all the other effort and defensive awareness plays that define his game.

The defensive specialist continues his heater of a start from long range. If the first two games of the year are any indication, Folsom is one of the top shooters in 2027. He hit threes in spots as a freshman, but through two games has seemed automatic when open. Along with the big threes, Folsom continues to have one of the finest motors on defense in the state, with the feel and instincts to match. One compliment that could be paid to his mentality on defense is that he looks like he could fit into some of the ballhawking, pressuring defenses of years past at Putnam City West and Midwest City.

A powder keg of a player, Folsom’s motor never turns off. Snagged some unbelievable rebounds for a player his size. Always applying ball pressure, a nuisance with great instincts to force off the ball steals. Was also one of Southmoore’s more reliable shooters on the night, including some deep threes. After an injury hindered his freshman year, it’s good to see him healthy and hit the ground running as a sophomore.

Energetic guard, who is a pest on the defensive end and closed the high school season strong. Has good range from three, but the combination of tenacity and attention to detail on defense are what currently makes him stand out. Currently profiles as a X Factor :havoc causing” guard at the 6A level, with the upside to mature into a complete lead guard.
