Expert Analysis

Caterino plays so damn hard. The 6-foot guard has solid athleticism—good strength, speed, and jumping ability—but it’s mostly his heart that allows him to be effective on the court. He never stops hunting down rebounds on both ends of the floor, sliding his feet and being active on the weak side, and attacking loose balls. His attitude and effort is second to nobody, and that makes him a phenomenal teammate. He can make open threes, finish in transition, and is super unselfish, too. Caterino is only a rising sophomore but will be hard to keep off the court for any coach because of how hard he plays.

It seemed like every single time I looked over, Caterino was playing in another game yesterday. He played for both the BABC National HGSL squad (the sophomore will reclassify to 2029 next year and attend Darrow Academy) and also the 2028 A Step Ahead team (same program). He probably played 4 games yesterday, but he always had lots of energy and was engaged and competitive. He defends hard, and he’s always moving without the ball, so he’s clearly a well-conditioned athlete. Caterino’s calling card is his shooting ability from three, but the lefty showcased some nice floaters on various drives to the rim as well. Darrow will be a good place for him to continue to develop his off-the-dribble and closeout-attack game.

Caterino is another public school sophomore who is primed for a solid varsity season. The Watertown southpaw guard has a quick first step and solid elevation and touch at the hoop, which makes him a solid driver. His superpower is his shooting, though; he always has his legs engaged, and he knows how to move without the ball while always being ready on the catch. I’m not sure if he’s done growing yet, but an extra year to get stronger and quicker laterally would be really helpful for his college hopes.
