Asberry stood out as the northeast Ohio guard makes shots, plays on balance and didn’t force the issue. I like how Asberry uses jump stops to get on balance before taking a pull-up jumper or kickout to a teammate. When Asberry gets ran off the line he’s able to attack a closeout and swing the ball around the perimeter. One of the top shooting guards in Northeast Ohio, Asberry will be one to watch this winter with Euclid.
Euclid, one of the most aggressive teams in the state and known for playing at a fast tempo, got a strong showing from sophomore Mekhi AsberryMekhiAsberry

. A strong driver who can create off the dribble, Asberry keeps defenses honest with his shooting range while using quick feet and active hands to disrupt passing lanes on the other end. His ability to impact the game on both sides stood out as he finished with 21 points, including four made threes.
The new look Panthers impressed on Saturday with some impressive wins against top talent. Asberry made shots off the catch and fit in with a top defensive team. While I was most impressed with the depth and amount of players who made an impact for Euclid, Asberry stood out as their most talented scorer as just a sophomore. With Head Coach Quentin Rogers bringing in talent from around the area, including Asberry from his old job at Richmond Heights, Euclid is a team to watch this winter.
Asberry was with Richmond Heights last season and played a major role on one of the top teams in the state. Asberry is a tough defender, makes shots and has the athleticism to impact the game on both ends of the court. At Euclid now, Asberry stood out at Midwest Live, looking comfortable playing for Quentin Rogers, his Richmond Heights coach as well. It will be interesting to see Asberry in a featured role this season as a player with experience and leadership for a young, hungry and talented Euclid squad.
Asberry followed his coach from Richmond Heights to Euclid and looked comfortable in a new shade of Blue this weekend. A quick guard who wants to play in an up-tempo environment, the athleticism that he’s surrounded with on Euclid is a perfect fit for his style of play. In the second half Asberry knocked down three corner 3-pointers as his team rolled to a victory.
One of the quickest guards I saw all weekend, Ansberry was aggressive as a slasher and could take it coast to coast off defensive rebounds and steals. Also a capable shot-maker from 3-point range, Ansberry made the defense pay when they collapsed on his teammates and left him open from downtown. Ansberry was one of the most consistent players all weekend and is set for a breakout sophomore campaign after making a splash on varsity as a freshman on a senior laden group.
