Ryder is a good shooter who is working to improve as a driver and to get stronger to absorb contact and get to the free throw line more often. Primarily a three point shooter this past season, Burgess was launching from deep nearly 8 times per game but only averaged one free throw attempt per game for the season. He’ll need to strike a better balance moving forward but Ryder has potential to be really good.

Burgess posted big scoring numbers this season and got better and better as the season rolled along. A consistent double figure scorer for Russell this past season, Ryder will keep getting better as he gets stronger and more comfortable absorbing contact and finishing around the rim. Look for Burgess to be a top player in the region next season.

Burgess is having a very strong freshman season for a Russell squad that has struggled out of the gates but is improving. Burgess tends to take more threes than twos as he’s firing up 3 threes for every two point attempt but some of that is due to his frail build not wanting to take contact on drives. As he gets stronger, look for Burgess to become more comfortable driving and finishing through contact.
