Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
A prospect who came to the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase, Morris is one of the most talented offensive players in the 2029 class. A big time perimeter shooter, Morris loves taking and making contested shots on the perimeter and as he gets more comfortable with his body and able to get lower on drives, should be able to generate open looks more consistently. Tough to find wings with the positional size, ball handling and shooting ability that Morris has and he still has a lot of room for improvement athletically and in the weight room. Morris had a big opening weekend for Phenom United 15 U at Midwest Mania, earning a 15 U standout mention from his play Vs All Ohio Red .

One of the more talented wing shooters from Ohio’s 2029 class, Morris made some big perimeter shots in the second half to help fuel a Phenom United comeback in the second half. Morris has good positional size and my favorite bucket of Morris all game came when he executed a give and go and scored a layup off his cut from the wing. With that positional size, I want to see Morris continue to score in the paint and rebound the ball consistently. One of the most talented 2029 prospects in Ohio, Morris is another player who will debut highly in our 2029 rankings that come out later this week.

One of the most talented prospects in Ohio’s 2029 class, Morris has an impressive skillset for a player his size and age. Able to knock down deep shots, Morris shot an extremely high percentage with his feet set on Saturday. Hitting some shots from the college line from the top of the key, Morris is a player who can really stretch the floor for his team. I’ve thought Morris reminds me of Mason Shrout, one of the top wings in Ohio’s 2024 class who ended up at the Division I level. Funny enough they have the same first name but the playstyle similarities are evident with how they can shoot, handle it and move at their size. Morris is already taller than Shrout was as a senior, showing some more long-term physical upside. We’ll be following Morris closely as he’s one of the top 2029 prospects in Ohio.

Mason is a versatile offensive force who can hurt defenses in multiple ways. He brings power and explosiveness to the court with highlight-reel dunks, but he’s far from one-dimensional. Mason can stretch the floor with a smooth three-point shot and also dominate in the post, using his strength and footwork to score with his back to the basket. His ability to impact the game inside and out makes him a matchup nightmare and a consistent scoring threat every time he steps on the floor.

One of the top incoming freshman in northeast Ohio, Morris was getting busy in an early morning game against Olentangy Orange where he had a couple tough buckets off the dribble as he created his own offense. I was impressed with Morris ability to handle and shoot at his height and age. On a smaller Massillon Jackson squad, Morris had his hands full by defending the biggest player on the opposing team, I liked seeing his effort trying to keep taller and older players off the glass. Morris will be a well-known name across Ohio sooner rather than later.
