Mason Abittan Mason Abittan 6'6" | SG/CG Coronado | 2025 State NV is now recommitted to UNLV after they announced that Josh Pastner would be taking over as head coach. They have also gathered a few other commitments, including Tyrin Jones and Emmanuel Stephen. Although UNLV’s 2025-2026 schedule isn’t out just yet, I’m sure there will be a ton of local fans at games next year to support him and his fellow Rebels.

I also noticed him attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line. On the defensive end, Abittan covered ground at a rapid rate and he had some deflections that led to Sierra Vista turning the ball over.

He drained five 3-pointers and many of them were clean looks. Abittan finished the game as Coronado’s leading scorer, with 21 points. Mason Abittan Mason Abittan 6'6" | SG/CG Coronado | 2025 State NV and the Cougars are on a roll. Winning 3 consecutive home games and moving to second in the current 5A standings. On Wednesday night, I noticed Abittan hunting both 2’s and 3’s on offense. His shooting mechanics looked solid and he knocked down a few shots from well beyond the 3-point arc. Abittan was also tasked with guarding CJ Shaw CJ Shaw 6'3" | SG Mojave | 2025 State #212 Nation NV and kept his scoring in check most of the game.

Mason Abittan Mason Abittan 6'6" | SG/CG Coronado | 2025 State NV was in the zone on Saturday night at the Big City Showdown. He seemingly couldn’t miss and was on fire from beyond the arc, going 5-7. Abittan also came up in the clutch for the Cougars and was a big part of their huge 24 point 4th quarter. It was quite the performance from the UNLV commit against Nevada’s top team.

While Coronado hasn’t had a winning season so far, Mason Abittan Mason Abittan 6'6" | SG/CG Coronado | 2025 State NV has still been putting up numbers. The senior really uses his IQ to set up his shots and displays consistent mechanics. Abittan was also most recently named to the Tarkanian Classic All-Tournament team. In order for him to stay a top contender, he’ll need to continue to perform at a high level the rest of the way.

On offense, he got to his spots and also connected on two 3-Pointers. On defense, Abittan used his wingspan to pressure his opponents, and collected two steals. It was a great game for the UNLV commit.

UNLV landed the hometown kid, well done Coach Kruger! Mason’s rise these last 4 years has been incredible to watch. He drew a ton of college interest and was also being recruited by Radford, Nevada, Indiana St., along with a few others. I’ll be looking forward his watching him play in college, his future looks very bright!

Mason’s craftiness and athleticism allow him to get to his spots with ease. Then once he gets to his spot, he has a quick release and textbook shooting form. Mason isn’t just a shooter though, he can make some plays on defense. His length allows him to play passing lanes and it also intimidates his opponents when they are considering to shoot.

Mason Abittan Mason Abittan 6'6" | SG/CG Coronado | 2025 State NV put on an entertaining offensive performance against DME Academy. A majority of his scoring came from beyond the arc and at the free throw line. His ability to get his own shots is fun to watch, and is also helped keep Air Nado in the game until DME Academy pulled away at the end. Which college that Mason chooses, will be getting a certified bucket getter.
