has started to settle in over Coronado. Giving them another scoring option thanks to his ability to skirt around opponents and weave through traffic. He also uses pace to set up driving lanes, and has the acceleration skills to hit the hole quickly. I watched him bury a couple of 3’s as well, plus he dished it to his teammates when they had the better look. On the defensive end, Virgil stays on the move. And can poke the ball away or make deflections with his active hands.

is officially suiting up for Coronado after making the move from Torrey Pines. He put his handles and quickness on full display, skirting around defenders to get to the rack. The attention he drew, also opened the door for his teammates. And he dished out some quality last second assists over the course of the game. With his speed and scoring instincts, he should be a valuable asset for the Cougars going forward.

The 6’1 guard spent time up top as a facilitator. He looked more like a combo guard in Rock Hill. Handling ball pressure, settling things up top, looking to get others involved with good ball movement around the perimeter, finding cutters, and feeding the post. He had good drives, weaving his way in for assists, and buckets. He hits the mid-range, and knocks down open 3’s off the dribble.

He’s a scoring guard that can put points on the board in different ways. He’s a clever ball handler, makes good use of his screens to create his shot opportunities, getting defenders off balance. He’ll roam the perimeter looking to cross up a defender, then weave his way to the rim, taking the bumps to finish in different ways. He’ll get hot dropping 3’s. You can call a play for him when you need a bucket, or when the game is on the line.

Virgil was his teams leading scorer as a Freshman. A thick body 2 guard that confidently looks for his shot when he has the ball in his hands. He has the handles to beat defenders off the dribble, using his solid body to handle contact and finish in traffic. He can drop a 3ptr off the dribble, spotting up along the perimeter, and coming down in transition. You can call a play for him, he wants the ball.

Virgil is on a path to being one of the top Freshman in the 2027 class. He’s taken home two MOP awards in showcase events we’ve attended. The 6’1 guard looks for his shot using his dribble to create for himself and others. There’s not a lot of hesitation when he finds himself open with a good look at the basket. He’ll drop 3’s from all around the perimeter.
