One of the more active interior players for Hun unit, Marshall Douglas showed flashes of his ability to make an impact through his size, physicality, and relentless motor. He brought consistent energy to the frontcourt— more specifically catching dump offs in the short corner area from penetrating ball handlers and faking handoffs in DHO’s to attack open space and finish at the rim. Douglas also displayed a strong nose for the basketball, competing hard on the offensive glass and creating additional possessions with his work on the boards while also showing he’s capable of initiating the break and pushing in the open floor.

Douglass is an interesting piece for Hun because he can operate as either a wing or a big offensively. He’s a capable passer who can attack off limited dribbles, and he finds ways to impact the game even when he isn’t featured in the offense. Douglass is a threat on the offensive glass, has a soft shooting touch and competes defensively, though that end of the floor remains an area for growth.

Douglass has the ability to have a breakout this season as he should put his full game on display. The 6’6 forward uses his handle to get to his spot on the floor and his range extends out to the three-point line. Douglass rarely forces jumpers in the half court and is an underrated passer out of the post. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and influences shots around the rim. Douglass’s ability to stretch the floor along with his ability to control the paint is something to watch during the winter months.

Brining interior toughness coupled with a keen understanding of offensive positioning, Douglass was especially effective as an interior finisher— particularly as a cutter in different half court sets, with his back to the basket game in the low post, catching dump offs in the short corner area from penetrating ball handlers, impact on the offensive glass to generate second chance points, attacking driving angles when opportunities opened up, rejecting DHO’s to get to the basket, and even running the rim line in transition.

Proving to provide plenty of quality depth and value with the constant productivity and activity he brings in the front court, Marshall Douglass Marshall Douglass 6'6" | PF Hun School | 2028 State NJ was extremely impactful in the minutes he played. Douglass’ impact was felt the most as a finisher on the interior, especially as a cutter out of the many different offensive sets this 16U Shoreshots group ran— as a strong, smart and instinctive diver in PnR action(s), rim running in the open floor when other ball handlers were able to push the break, and even on the offensive glass as a physical rebounder that generated a plethora of extra possessions. Douglass also provided further value as a floor spacer, showing some promise in his ability to knock down outside shots as a pick and pop threat.

Providing nice size and valuable production in the front court for this talented 16U NJ Shoreshots UAA group, Marshall Douglas impressed with the constant rate of his interior activity, highlighted by a tremendous level of infectious effort and energy— finishing around the basket with solid touch around the basket, particularly cutting to the basket and off low post entry passes from his teammates while also being extremely active on the boards and generating a handful of second chance opportunities on the glass.

Douglass is ridiculously intriguing and I could see him being too good for the D2 or D3 level once the time comes. The 6-foot-6 wing/forward can shoot it from three but also has some handles and verve off the dribble, and he’s really effective out of the triple threat. He scored his team’s first 8 points in the game I watched and I was shocked to find out he’s only a rising sophomore. If he continues to grow and get quicker laterally, he could be on the radar of scholarship coaches in no time. Fascinating long-term prospect with probably the most potential of any player I saw at Babson.
