Already having the reputation as one of the state’s most potent playmakers, Cooper regularly creates high quality scoring chances for his teammates through sharp reads and quick and decisive actions. Elusive and controlled with the ball, he has a knack for picking apart down defenses as a playmaker— finding cutters in stride and delivering well timed passes to spot up shooters for clean and in rhythm looks. While his primary strength lies in facilitating, Cooper has also shown he can step up as a scorer when needed— finishing effectively at the rim with touch and creativity and knocking down open three pointers to keep defenses honest.

While playmaking remains his calling card, he also showed an ability to score when needed, converting on different looks at the basket in the paint and knocking down open threes to keep defenses honest.

Quick and dynamic with the ball in his hands with an extreme willingness as a facilitator, Cooper routinely got deep in the paint and made the right reads finding cutters and spot up shooters out on the perimeter in rhythm. Countering his consistent playmaking ability, Cooper kept the defense honest, putting the ball in the basketball himself when the offense called for it— converting on soft touch runners and floaters in the paint as well as flashing his perimeter shooting ability off the bounce from three point range.

CBA took a tough loss at the hands of Seton Hall Prep but its young backcourt managed to stand out nonetheless, with Cooper leading the way from the lead guard spot. The quick-footed transfer via St. Rose showed off his dynamic end-to-end speed while consistently controlling the pace of the game in both transition and the halfcourt. He really sees the floor as a willing and slick passer, setting the table comfortably for cutters and shooters alike. Most importantly for his long-term outlook at the next level, Cooper showed off extended range as a shooter which will be key to help keep defenses honest at his size and stature. He’ll have to work to add some muscle to his frame in the coming years but Cooper should generate scholarship-level attention moving forward given the dearth of true lead guards in today’s game.

Thriving in a unique role of facilitation as a ball distributor and as a spot up shooter, Izayah Cooper Izayah Cooper 6'0" | PG Christian Brothers | 2028 State NJ put together some strong moments that exhibited his elite feel for the game as a decision maker. Cooper made a number of good reads with the ball in his hands, being unselfish and spreading the ball out to his teammates. Confident from the perimeter, Cooper also showcased his ability to be a dangerous threat from three point range.

Cooper is a strong and confident ball handler who displayed his ability to be a precise passer with a little bit of flare and a smart decision maker. Cooper also displayed his ability to be a smooth and confident in rhythm shooter off the catch, with range too.

Cooper showcased his ability to connect on shots from behind the arc while playing off of the ball. Cooper also is effective breaking the game down off the bounce and finding his teammates for scoring chances. He was in good spots to come down with offensive rebounds. Cooper isn’t afraid to throw bounce passes into tight gaps to get his post players the ball. He does a nice job moving without the ball in his hands. Sometimes he can try to force plays into existence which can lead to turnovers.

Consistently playing with his head up and seeing the open floor combined with sharp timing as a passer, Cooper demonstrated his advanced ability to create open looks for his teammates. Combined with his playmaking ability, Cooper also showcased his ability to be a dangerous threat from the perimeter— knocking down open looks from three point range. Quick with the ball in his hands, Cooper also generated an array of paint touches.
