Kevin Sylla Kevin Sylla 6'8" | PF Smoky Hill | 2024 State CO ‘s footwork is impeccable, and that’s what makes him a force to fear down low.  At a whopping 6’8 he is the last big you want to matchup against.  He will back you down and put you in a spin cycle that’s too effective to keep up with.  Defensively he’s holds his ground and stays disciplined yet aggressive.  Not to mention he can box out any opponent and secure plenty enough rebounds to facilitate offensive dominance.

Sylla leveraged his positional strength and wide reach to mitigate plenty of layups around the rim. Certainly a strong forward who is capable of battling with the biggest opponents in the state, he held his own against rising sophomore Oliver Junker Oliver Junker 6'7" | PF Mountain Vista | 2026 State CO . Effective in maintaining his position with both hands up, Sylla was more often than not the beneficiary of blocks or altered shot attempts from opponents.  He showed confidence in the post, vying for position to allow entry passes, often pivoting into right hand attempts.

Sylla’s ability to contain the paint given his strength and athletic advantage will be especially helpful in slowing down opposing forward Eric Fiedler Eric Fiedler 6'7" | PF Regis Jesuit | 2026 State #165 Nation CO . Providing disciplined rim protection and production on the defensive glass will be particularly important for Sylla.

The forward has found success as a rim runner and budding face-up shooter. There is no doubt Sylla has added scoring versatility over the past 12 months, especially with a greater volume of mid-range shot attempts and soft finishes through opponent contact. The forward has garnered offers from Clackamas College, Shasta College, and Trinidad State.

Sylla is a big that can use his size and strength to battle in the paint on both ends of the court. He is able to snag boards on both ends and can hold his position when ball handlers try to back him down into the post, altering shots and making looks difficult. When he gets aggressive he is hard to stop in the low post, being able to make some turn around jumpers. He will have a chance to impact the post for his team on the defensive end moving into league play.

When Sylla is aggressive he is one of the harder player to guard, as he has good size and strength when he is able to get the ball inside the paint. He uses his strength in the post to back players down and get into a position he feels comfortable to score from. He has some quickness and can handle the ball at times being able to get past defenders and get some easy basket. He has a presence inside the paint and can come up with some boards. Would like to see him be more aggressive in the post as I think he can be an interior force when he is. Will be a player to keep on the radar as he tries to step into being a rim protector.
