Expert Analysis
Bobby Lopez | Prep Hoops Scout
Speckman may have had the most dominant playoff run of anyone, consistently taking over games on both ends of the floor. With a high of 31 points and 13 rebounds in the semifinals, he recorded a double double in every postseason game, showing unmatched production and consistency. He dominated in the block, finished multiple alley oops and even showcased his ball handling and ability to step out and knock down shots from deep. Defensively he was just as impactful, protecting the rim and shutting down opportunities inside. His complete, high level play is exactly why his stock has skyrocketed after this run

? He left the state as one of the best players in the state and tried the prep route. He came back, and his team looked like a completely different team. He’s now a state champ, and that was the one accolade that eluded him. Speckman was dominant in his state championship run. The 6’9 big man put up 19 points and 10.9 rebounds a game, elevated those numbers when it mattered most, and just looked different. He leaves his career as a 1,000-point scorer, player of the year, multiple 1st Team All-state, and now a state championship. He’s new to the rankings only because he was not there the last go-round. Solid player that will go in as a Top 5 player.

Speckman was the dominant force for Lutheran, delivering a high level performance with 23 points and 9 rebounds while impacting the game on both ends of the floor. From the opening tip, he established himself in the block, finishing strong through contact and controlling the glass. Whenever Lutheran needed a spark, Speckman answered. Late in the game, he brought the crowd to its feet with two electrifying alley oop finishes that helped seal the victory and shift all momentum his team’s way. Defensively he was just as impressive, playing physical, locking down the lane, and making it difficult for opponents to find clean looks inside

Kade Speckman is a pivotal player from South Central Prep, consistently provides exceptional rim protection for the paint defense. On both ends of the court he maintains a high level of activity, actively participating in multiple possessions. Offensively, he sets excellent screens that facilitate the smooth flow of the offense. When he rolls hard off screens, he creates opportunities for himself to finish around the rim as his teammates frequently find him.

A hard working forward prospect, Speckman makes a two-way impact. Great presence around the rim, long wingspan, good timing and a strong motor. Still will need to be stronger with the ball at the next level, but should come with naturally filling out plus a college level weight room. His eagerness and communication on the defensive end points to him being a long term success. On offense, Speckman tries to dunk everything and has shown glimpse of having extended shooting range. Has played extensively nationally over three years of AAU play, and has started to reap the rewards. With recent offers that include Indiana State, Austin Peay, Mercer, Missouri State and Maine.

Speckman is a long, versatile two-way wing who showed an advanced understanding of the game. Offensively, Speckman excelled at cutting into open space, diving off ball penetration, and making himself available for clean finishes when defenders helped off. On defense, he was disruptive with his length and anticipation, always active with hands up, using his wingspan to challenge jumpers and disrupt passing lanes. His awareness and timing allowed him to contest effectively without fouling. A highly adaptable prospect with a well-rounded skillset and excellent instincts.

is a 6’9″ forward at Lutheran and one of the most promising players in the state. With his size and ability to use that size, he is a difference-maker with the skill to match. He is a double-double machine who scored in double figures in all but one game in his junior campaign. He put up an impressive 22.6 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 2.2 APG, and 3.2 BPG. He’s efficient, has a back-to-the-basket game, but also is a stretch big that can shoot it. He is a two-way standout and is one of the more intriguing players in the class.

Speckman remains one of the top frontcourt names in the state thanks to his vertical athleticism, easily throwing down dunks off of cuts or lobs. Improving his three point shooting quite dramatically this season, he is rounding out his abilities as a skilled name who is dangerous off the roll and pop. Even stepping into threes from time to time, there are not many guys at his size with his growth.
